Herkunft

Das Muster dieses New Schirwans ist angelehnt an das Musterelemente klassischer Bakhtiari Teppiche. Dieser Teppich wurde allerdings nicht im Kaukasus, sondern in Pakistan geknüpft.

Schirwan (auch Shirvan) Teppiche werden im östlichen Kaukasus im Schirwangebiet von Hand geknüpft. Schirwan Teppiche werden aus außergewöhnlich feiner Wolle geknüpft und haben einen flachen Flor. Alte Schirwans werden in Europa unter Sammlern sehr geschätzt und hoch bewertet.

Charakteristisch für Schirwan Tepiche ist die breite Bordüre. Das Feld wird häufig von phantasievollen geometrischen Mustern bestimmt. Farblich kennzeichnend für diese Teppiche sind häufig blaue jedoch auch rote und elfenbeinfarbene Knüpfungen. Aufgrund der vielfarbigen Muster ergibt sich eine feine und vielseitige Färbung.

Material

Der Flor dieses New Schirwans wurde aus hochwertiger Schurwolle handgeknüpft. Schurwolle wird durch das schonende Scheren von Schafen gewonnen. Schurwolle ist ein nachwachsender, natürlicher Rohstoff mit einer Reihe beeindruckender Eigenschaften: Durch den natürlichen Fettgehalt der Wolle stößt die Oberfläche Wassertropfen ab und ist so auf natürliche Weise gegen Schmutz imprägniert. Wolle bietet außerdem eine hervorragende Wärmeisolation, wirkt regulierend auf das Wohnklima und dämpft den Schall.
