Der Niesen war und ist als markante Bergpyramide seit jeher für viele Künstler und Künstlerinnen attraktiv: für die Kleinmeister, für berühmte Künstler wie Cuno Amiet, Ferdinand Hodler, Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, August Macke, Otto Morach, JM William Turner und für zeitgenössische Künstler Wie den in Unterseen bei Interlaken als Arzt und Künstler tätig gewesenen Bendicht Friedli (1930 – 2014). Von 1972 bis 1994 zeichnete und malte er in einem Atelier in Felden, Sigriswil, mit einer besonders schönen Aussicht auf den Niesen. In seinem umfangreichen Œuvre finden sich weit über 100 Niesen-Gemälde, überwiegend mit Acrylfarben in einer leuchtenden Farbigkeit gemalt.

In Zusammenarbeit mit der Stiftung Linette und Bendicht Friedli hat der Weber Verlag nun sämtliche noch verfügbaren Niesen-Werke gesammelt, katalogisiert, fotografiert und in diesem wunderschönen Band zum ersten Mal der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht.
