Squale kann auf eine schon über sechs Jahrzehnte andauernde Geschichte zurückblicken. Passend zum Jubiläum im Jahr 2019 hat sich der Hersteller selbst beschenkt. Mit der Sub-39 hat Squale eine gänzlich neue Serie ins Leben gerufen. Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf der Historie der Marke, die im Design der Sub-39 aufgegriffen wird. Man könnte sagen: die Sub-39 vereint alte Designs in einem  neuen Zeitmesser - ein ambitioniertes Projekt!

Der auffällige Name rührt von den historischen Vorlagen, die einen Durchmesser von 39 Millimetern aufweisen. Die Sub-39 ist jedoch etwas größer. Beim Gehäuse hat man sich von einer alten Squale-Uhr inspirieren lassen, die man in den Archiven von Gründer Charles Von Büren fand. Sie stammt aus den 1960er Jahren und trägt maßgeblich zum Aussehen der Sub-39 bei. Markenzeichen ist zudem das leicht kastenförmige Uhrenglas, das an die alten Plexiglas-Entwürfe der Vergangenheit erinnert - heute kommt stattdessen hochwertiges Saphirglas zum Einsatz.

Der Klassiker jetzt mit GMT-Komplikation und im satten Blau! Indizes und Proportionen sind im typischen Vintage-Stil gehalten. Damit sieht die Sub-39 wie eine der ersten Taucheruhren überhaupt aus! SuperLuminova im "Old Radium"-Stil. Am dreigliedrigen Edelstahlband macht die Uhr eine zeitlose Figur.

Das Ergebnis ist dementsprechend vielseitig geworden. Ich gehe sogar so weit und behaupte, dass dieses Exemplar die schönste Referenz überhaupt ist! Die Sub-39 gibt aber immer eine gute Figur ab.       Great book, but the other book of the same author is much better

      This is a very high quality book, chock a block full of information about construction sites, with lots of imaginative flaps, things that swivel, move, and fold. HOWEVER...it is not as good as "The Ultimate Book of Vehicles" by the same author. The "Vehicles" book is more appropriate for kids 3 years and up: It is still full of awesome flaps, swivels, and things that move, but it is simpler, with pictures of the vehicle, the name of the vehicle, and maybe a few names of the parts of the vehicle. You open up a flap to see inside, make it move, etc. My son found it very interesting. The "Construction" is really aimed for older kids, I'm guessing 5 and up, maybe even older. There are just so many words on the page, and so much information. The flaps are not as interesting as the previous book, and I found many of the moving parts to be "sticky", and my 3 year old ripped quite a few out within a week of reading the book. We have not ripped anything from the "Vehicle" book. So I would say if you have an older kid who wants to gain a lot of knowledge about construction sites, this book is for you. But if you have a younger child (3 and up, any younger and they'd destroy the book), get the "Vehicle" book.

      My nephew can look at this book for hours. It is such a cool book even for adults. It is a more delicate child’s book as their are lots of demonstrations and paper pieces that move. The house across the street is being torn down and rebuilt and he will sit and point to the book and say this is what they are doing today. I think this book is one of my nephews most prized possessions. It’s a great book that can grown with them for a few years. He is only 3 but this could easily engage a 5 or 6 year old.
