Introducing the JP Australia HydroFoil Slalom S-TEC 2025.

FOIL PERFECTION

Unbelievable! Fly faster and faster with the Foil! JP's fastest foil boards have gotten even faster — again!

The most important performance-enhancing feature of all these boards this year is their construction: S-TEC gives the boards a new and completely different look and makes the already very light boards even lighter! The boards take off earlier and are easier to control in the air.

The line has been reduced to core sizes 80, 85, and 88. The focus was on efficiency, specifically minimizing drag and improving control in the air. To achieve this, the boards feature a flat bow scoop, thin edges in the front, and a slightly arched deck at the bow to optimize airflow. The standing area is flat with raised pads that extend beyond the edge and provide constant leverage on the Foil. Only the most important racing size, 85, now has a completely new shape.

Weight optimization is particularly important for performance boards. That's why the new and groundbreaking S-TEC construction is also used for JP's race boards. The estimated average weight saving achieved by S-TEC will be up to 0.3 kg for HydroFoil Slalom boards. Considering that the previous models were already extremely light, any further weight reduction is impressive!

This is achieved through the following changes:

* No paint

* Less rough paint, which is only used in the standing areas

* Smaller and thinner pads – less EVA and less adhesive

and

,

importantly

, * Refined, customized lamination process in which fibers are prepared and laminated separately

Durability remains at the proven level, as all important reinforcements are unchanged, particularly due to the increased use of biax carbon. Only elements that are not relevant to strength and durability have been reduced or omitted.

The other essential contribution to weight reduction is thanks to the optimized lamination process. This not only creates a completely new look, but also contributes to improved performance, as this year's boards are even lighter!

What a great feature for all HydroFoil Slalom boards!

Compared to slalom racing with Fins, foiling is now more than just competitive: in the very first year of PWA competitions, foil boards dominated the rankings. They are now ahead in all areas of slalom racing – provided there are no limitations or restrictions due to regulations and rules.

Since the PWA only allows one foilboard size for its entire season, shaper Werner Gnigler has created a completely

HYDROFOIL SLALOM 85

The 85 has been redesigned to optimize airflow around the board, improving top speed and stability in the air.

To achieve this, Werner has made the board much shorter and incorporated an unusual, sharp V-edge along the underside of the bow. This allowed the board to be only 2 meters long, making it extremely compact and minimizing air resistance.

The V-shape helps maintain straight-line stability for early starts, something that was previously only possible with longer hulls. The sharp V ensures a smooth landing and immediately lifts the board back into flight mode without losing balance and avoiding skidding.

In the standing area, the deck is now even flatter, which improves and enhances the rider's leverage on the Foil.

The concave recess at the rear now has a more radical shape to reduce turbulence and control airflow and forces along the board.

The cutouts are even deeper this year for even less volume, making it easier to lower the tail when pumping.

The newly developed 80 and 88 competition models for 2024 remain in the range to cover all Foil slalom conditions for lighter and heavier riders. This allows every rider to find the perfect board for their weight and conditions

.

Here are the key shape details of all three boards:

• Aerodynamic efficiency in the bow area

The boards fly through the air. Therefore, reducing drag leads to improved control and speed. The main goal was to achieve maximum efficiency with the following refined shape details:

The bow rocker is flat and the front edges are thin. To optimize airflow, the bow has a slightly curved deck that creates laminar airflow around the hull and balances lift and downforce to stabilize the board in the air. All HydroFoil Slalom boards are very short, which minimizes swing weight and improves control at the upper end.

• Baseplate area

In this area

,

the rails are fuller and have hard, sharp edges – the most efficient shape for generating lift to get into flight mode and drastically reducing drag on touch-downs, bouncing off ('re-bounce') and continuing to fly immediately.

• Deck Shape: Recess for the mast box

This deep recess lowers the pivot point of the Baseplate, closing the gap between the board and the leech. This ensures efficiency and also provides additional control when pushing your limits and jibing.

• Deck Shape: Standing and Power Transfer

The most radical change has been made to the deck shape in the standing area: it is now significantly flatter and the new special pads extend slightly further outwards than the maximum width of the rails. Now the rider can place their foot in the ideal position without changing the angle of leverage on the Foil, which can be the case with rounded edges.
This also allowed for the addition of two footstrap rails for the rear foot – the inner one for riding in strong winds and downwind courses, the outer one for upwind to half-wind courses and light winds.

• Deck Shape: Tail Aerodynamics

The tail now features a concave recess, almost like a small cut-out on the deck, which directs the airflow along the deck. This provides additional control as the more even, deflected, and directional airflow stabilizes the board in the air.

• Large tail cutouts

When foiling, the cutouts have two main functions: to reduce volume in the tail and to reduce drag.

The reduced volume allows the rider to push the tail into the water when pumping so that the Foil can develop lift immediately for an instant start.

All boards feature cutouts that are individually shaped for each board's intended use. During occasional touch-downs, the deep cutouts significantly reduce the wetted surface area, resulting in less drag—which is essential and important as riders touch down at much higher speeds while surfing—immediate 're-bounce'.

• Wide tail

The wide tail provides great leverage on the Foil, which is a key factor for fast surfing and allows you to maintain control despite all these enormous forces. An essential detail for finding the best compromise between a comfortable stance and efficient power transfer to the Foil.

Summary

All of these boards are super efficient and incredibly fast. Each one offers control in a very wide wind range, so every rider can find the right size(s) and performance for their weight and conditions.

The super-fast Foil machines: performance, power, and control for slalom competition. The stage is set to increase your Foil speed! Now with updated technology.

enjoyable cozy urban fantasy
Format: Kindle
Getting kidnapped by her cult-leader grandfather and held chained for other a month is not a pleasant experience. But when Vedalia's (Vel) aunt comes and rescues her, things start to take a turn for the better. Especially when said aunt is a vampire, who is married to a witch, and they're giving her a new start at life. This story is very much a cozy urban fantasy. There is actions and threats (as her grandfather doesn't know when to give up), but not a lot of angst (not a bad thing at all in my opinion ^^). The focus of the story is very much on Vel as she adapts to life with her new found family, and makes new friends. There is romance in the story, and it's cute - they make an adorable couple. But there is a lot more going on as well. It is an enjoyable read that is well written and paced well, and I definitely appreciate the queer representation that is in the story. The main threat is wrapped up well, and I certainly would be interested in seeing more of the characters, and Vel growing more into what she has been given. Happily devoured and I look forward to reading more by her.

Amazing
Format: Hardcover
"You know a poem's good if it makes people feels things" And this novel-in-verse is beyond good. Each word is perfectly chosen to bring you naturally into Selah's world, and her voice is crystal-clear. This was an emotional read for me, and there were so many points that I felt my eyes welling up, sometimes in sympathy and sometimes with joy at her journey. Her friends, teachers, classmates, and family were fully formed as well. I feel like I know and understand them all so well. I want to go chill in Pop's basement. I want to give Selah's Mom a hug and tell her she's doing great. I'd love to be on a team with Mrs. V, and I absolutely adored Selah's close friend Noelle with her smeagoling and dogged determination to stand by her friend. They are people I would have loved to hang out with them. Loved, loved, loved the dragon metaphors. They made Selah's feelings, wants, and desire so clear and relatable. I have a slight obsession with the dragons of Birk, so of course, I gave a little cheer everytime they were mentioned. The FantasyCon scene was lovely, and I loved how it was a turning point on Selah's journey towards finding herself. I always love when the dear nerdly community pulls through. Anyway, I'll probably be throwing this book at everyone's head for a while. It's beautiful, profound, a little cathartic, and important. But also, it's a really enjoyable read! Like, Selah's just a really cool girl. Everything about it was just right, and I feel better for having read it.

Eye Opening!! A great perspective of what is happening in some neurodivergent brain,
Format: Audiobook
What a fantastic book! It gives insight into how neurodivergent people experience the world. I have always heard the phrase "All behavior is communication." I recently listened to an add-on to that phrase: "Distressed behavior communicates a person's distress." I couldn't help but think about this phrase as I read this story. The fatigue of masking is a significant challenge; pretending to be someone you are not is a constant struggle. As a neurodivergent teacher who teaches neurodivergent kids, this story touched my heart, and I highly recommend it to anyone who will listen.
