Beschreibung: Der Trichocereus bridgesii Yowie ist ein markanter Klon des Bolivian Torch-Kaktus, der ursprünglich aus Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australien stammt. Dieser Klon wurde vegetativ vermehrt, was bedeutet, dass er genetisch identisch zur Mutterpflanze ist und somit die einzigartigen Merkmale zuverlässig weitergibt. Besonders auffällig sind die markanten Dornen, die pro Areole meist zu zweit oder zu dritt auftreten und auffällig nach unten gebogen sind. Diese charakteristische Spination macht den Yowie zu einem echten Blickfang in jeder Sammlung..

 

Aussehen:

Der Yowie wächst säulenförmig mit kräftigen, kantigen Rippen. Die Epidermis ist hellgrün bis graugrün und kann bei intensiver Sonneneinstrahlung einen attraktiven bläulichen Schimmer entwickeln. Die Areolen sind regelmäßig entlang der Rippen angeordnet und tragen auffällig lange, gelblich bis bräunliche Dornen, die zu zweit oder zu dritt auftreten und markant nach unten gebogen sind. Diese besondere Spination verleiht dem Yowie ein unverwechselbares Aussehen.

Standort:

Ein heller, vollsonniger Standort ist optimal. Der Yowie profitiert von direkter Sonnenbestrahlung, die sowohl das kompakte Wachstum als auch die typische Blaufärbung der Oberfläche fördert. Im Sommer kann die Pflanze problemlos im Freien gehalten werden – windgeschützt und mit ausreichend Licht

Pflege:
 Der Trichocereus bridgesii Yowie ist robust und pflegeleicht. Während der Wachstumsphase sollte nur dann gegossen werden, wenn das Substrat vollständig abgetrocknet ist. In der Winterruhezeit nur sehr sparsam gießen. Staunässe unbedingt vermeiden, da diese schnell zu Wurzelfäule führen kann.

 

Substrat:
 Ein gut durchlässiges Substrat ist essenziell. Ideal ist eine Mischung aus etwa 30–40 % hochwertiger Blumenerde mit einem hohen Anteil an mineralischen Bestandteilen wie Bims, Lavamulch, Zeolith, Sand oder feinem Kies, um Staunässe zu vermeiden.

 

Winterhärte:
 Der Trichocereus ist nicht frosthart und sollte bei Temperaturen über 5 °C gehalten werden. Ein kühler, heller Standort mit ca. 10 °C im Winter unterstützt die natürliche Ruhephase.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
