Geschichte: Alle Waagen der Welt – von den empfindlichen in der pharmazeutischen Industrie bis hin zu der beim örtlichen Metzger – werden von einem Metallzylinder gemessen, der gut geschützt in einer unterirdischen Kiste außerhalb von Paris sitzt. Es heißt Le Grand K. Das glänzende Gewichtslos wurde 1889 hergestellt, als mehrere Nationen entschieden, dass es der Standard für ein Kilogramm sein sollte. Oder einfach Kilos, wie es umgangssprachlich heißt. Dann wurden exakte Kopien davon angefertigt und in die Welt hinausgeschickt. Unter anderem nach Dänemark, wo Exemplar Nr. 48 heute in Hørsholm beim dänischen Metrologieinstitut steht.

The pepper grinder looks nice and initially functioned well as expected. However, as at least 9 other reviewers have noted experiencing, within 2 weeks of purchase and after very minimal usage, the black retaining ring around the grinder cone & adjustment knob just fell out when I was using the grinder, which was disappointing and indicative of poor design or construction for this part. After some research & experimentation, I was able to pop the ring back into place using needle-nose pliers (you just need something hard and narrow to push and flex the ring a bit, not necessarily pliers). I'm hoping that this is not a harbinger of other problems to come. Otherwise it's a nice grinder.
