Horst Antes zählt zu den Pionieren der neuen Figuration in Deutschland. Seine ikonischen »Kopffüßler«, die konsequente Auseinandersetzung mit der Figur im Raum sowie seine Haus-Archetypen machten ihn seit den 1960er-Jahren international bekannt.Der Katalog bietet einen Überblick über das vielschichtige Werk des Künstlers – von frühen malerischen Experimenten bis zu späteren Werkgruppen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die bedeutende Sammlung, die Wolf und Ursula Hermann 1988 dem Sprengel Museum Hannover vermacht haben und die aus Mitteln der Stiftung stetig ergänzt wurde.
Gezeigt werden Gemälde, Grafiken und Skulpturen, die die stille Intensität, formale Strenge und anhaltende Aktualität von Antes’ Bildsprache eindrucksvoll erfahrbar machen. Rund 80 Gemälde aus den frühen 1960er-Jahren bis in die Gegenwart wurden von Antes selbst zu einer installativen Präsentation arrangiert. Ergänzt wird sie durch das monumentale siebenteilige Skulpturenensemble »Garten der Lüste«, das für die Bundesgartenschau in Karlsruhe geschaffen wurde und sich heute im Ludwig Forum Aachen befindet.
Horst Antes (geb. 1936) ist ein deutscher Maler, Grafiker und Bildhauer. Er studierte bei HAP Grieshaber an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe Malerei. 1967 zeigte er seine Skulpturen für einen »Garten der 7 Denkmäler der Lüste« im Programm der Bundesgartenschau in Karlsruhe. Antes ist selbst Sammler sehr unterschiedlicher Objekte.

Great Shelves! Drywall Anchors are the Bomb!
These shelves are very plain as I hoped they would be so as to not take away from the items displayed. The blue is true to the images so I was impressed by that. Word of knowledge: if you do not hit any studs, don’t use the mollies that came with them; use plastic drywall anchors! They work amazingly well!

Pretty shelves for small space

Good quality shelves and easy to install once I used my own stronger anchors and screws. The ones provided were too weak and made the shelf unstable. I had to patch several holes in my wall before installing them correctly. If they had provided better quality anchors I would have rated it 5 stars. Still very happy with my purchase.

Flimsy and doesn’t hold weight

Do not buy this. The frame this comes with is so small and flimsy. I didn’t even have anything on the shelves yet and they were falling off the wall. The wood is a beautiful color but the quality is awful.
I had different floating shelves on the same wall and I included a picture of the thick metal frame those came with, also from Amazon to show how flimsy this brand is.

Really nice shelves well-made

Look nice, not sturdy or supportive

The color and thickness of the shelf is great. Very easy to install. But the wall mount portion is cheaply made and doesn’t support the shelf as well as it should. Once mounted the shelf leans forward and isn’t sturdy. After mounting, I found my items had slid off end up on the floor.
