"I urge you to buy this book... One of the best overviews of the philosophy, principles, theories, research and practices of therapy that I have ever read... This book should be read by both beginning and fully qualified therapists - and importantly, by all those involved in designing and delivering training programmes for counsellors and psychotherapists." Professor Charlotte Sills, Ashridge Business School, Metanoia Institute, UK "If you have been searching for a contemporary book that offers a comprehensive overview of counselling and psychotherapy in straightforward manner whilst also engaging with underlying debates and research evidence, then you have just found it! I highly recommend this book for every counselling and psychotherapy trainee and for seasoned practitioners alike." Dr Divine Charura, Professor of Counselling Psychology, York St John University, UK "The brilliance of a book such as this one, a uniqueness which sits alongside its longevity and numerous editions, is that McLeod's work recognises that counselling and psychotherapy, that the work we do with the wide range of clients we meet, is a constantly growing field...A brilliantly worthy addition to this ever-expanding universe which is our profession." Dr Dwight Turner, Course Leader, Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Brighton, UK John McLeod's accessible bestseller provides a comprehensive, research-informed overview of the theory and practice of counselling and psychotherapy. Now in its seventh edition, this leading introduction to the discipline has been expanded to include a renewed focus on social justice, the use of technology in therapy, non-Western traditions, socio-political and decolonising perspectives, and working with clients who are considering taking their own lives. The book retains its comprehensive coverage of both mainstream and emerging approaches to therapy, and professional issues such as supervision, training, therapist development, ethical standards, and research-informed practice. New to this edition is wider coverage of issues such as racism, the climate crisis, gender, and sexuality; debates around neuroscience, spirituality and integrative approaches to therapy; and third-wave transdiagnostic cognitive behavioural therapies such as ACT, mindfulness, and FAP. Fully revised and updated throughout, the seventh edition also contains: Access to complementary online resources Case studies Landmark and contemporary research studies Critical analysis of the cultural, historical, and social context of therapeutic approaches Reflection and discussion topics Suggestions for further reading This book equips readers with the confidence to navigate and apply a range of therapeutic models. Building on the author's significant research and professional experience, the 7th edition of An Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy remains the definitive guide for students and practitioners. John McLeod has extensive experience as a counsellor, psychotherapist, supervisor, educator and researcher. He is currently Professor of Counselling at the Institute for Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in Dublin, Ireland, and has held similar roles at universities in England, Scotland, Italy, New Zealand, and Norway. His publications include the following books with Open University Press: Counselling Skills: Theory, Research and Practice , Embedded Counselling in the Helping Professions: A Practical Guide and Personal and Professional Development for Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Mental Health Practitioners.

Robert Monroe's Second Book on OBEs
Format: Paperback
In his second book, Robert Monroe continues to describe his personal experiences with Out-Of-Body travel. By the time he wrote this book, Mr. Monroe had traveled out-of-body so often that he is able to offer almost a "map" of the astral world and it's various levels and inhabitants. Mr. Monroe describes his fascinating encounters with a number of nonphysical beings, human and otherwise. He does not present himself as a religious person, but rather as a deeply curious individual in search of answers to questions as old as time. He attempts to make sense of what happens to us after we die and equally important, why we are here in the first place. The answers to these questions turn out to be complex and anyone looking for a simple explanation based on their own religious beliefs or upbringing may be disappointed, if not disturbed. Also, by this time, he had established much of his research techniques using hemi-sync, which he describes in some detail in the book. This book is incredibly interesting and enlightening. My only complaint with the book is that Monroe often does not offer enough explanation or detail and left me with many unanswered questions. Each of Monroe's books is riveting on its own terms. However, I found that by reading the three books in order I was better able to follow Monroe's evolving understanding of the "other side".

One of the greatest books I’ve ever read
Format: Audiobook
I wish I could have met this man. I began having OBE’s about 8 years before I read the journeys trilogy. When he talked about the out of body simulations my head nearly popped off. I’ve had a few of those and never found them described in detail anywhere else. This is the greatest book and most profound trilogy on personal spiritual exploration and out of body travel ever written. Period. Such a gem and so incredible to be experienced outside the traditional contexts of yoga and meditation. A true original work. Thank you Bob. These 3 books changed my life and made me finally enquire “what is under the hood” in an OBE. What transports the astral body or consciousness from one dimension to another?

This is a must-read for all those who are seeking answers.
Format: Paperback
If you can read only one of Robert Monroe's 3 books ("Journeys Out of the Body," "Far Journeys" and "Ultimate Journey"), "Ultimate Journey" is the one to read. Monroe's books chronicle his amazing learning experiences as his ability to travel out of the body develops and his capability to remember and to put these odysseys into words increases. Without laboring over material covered in the first two books, Monroe sums up his earlier adventures and then writes about his most recent and significant discoveries on this, his spiritual journey to understanding. If you have ever wondered if there is a God, why the Bible says that God is Love and in another place, shows God to be a vengeful being who orders the killing of many people, "Ultimate Journey" and the lessons taught to Monroe in his out-of-body state will help to clear up these questions. To say that "Ultimate Journey" will give you a whole new perspective on life, death and what lies beyond is an understatement. This is a must-read for those who are seeking answers! And, if at all possible, read all 3 books in order. "Far Journeys" is definately the most difficult to read, since much of it reflects Monroe's efforts to translate non-verbal communications from non-humans into English. But the information in that book is voluminous and well worth the effort to read it. Happy reading, fellow seekers!
