Der Rotwein Barbera von dem Weingut Idiom zeigt in der Nase einen duft von reifen, dunklen Kirschen, unterlegt von Zedernholz und einem Hauch Tabak. Feine Noten von Cassis geben zusätzliche Tiefe und Spannung. Am Gaumen zeigt der Barbera eine dichte, saftige Frucht mit präziser, lebendiger Säure. Die Textur wirkt seidig, dennoch mit griffigem Kern, der Struktur und Länge verleiht. Subtiles Eichenholz steuert Nuancen von Gewürz und Zedernspänen bei, ohne die Frucht zu überdecken. Der Abgang ist lang, dunkelwürzig und elegant.

Rebsorte Barbera

Barbera stammt aus dem Piemont und ist für ihre saftige Frucht und lebendige Säure bekannt. Typische Aromen sind rote Kirsche, Pflaume, Veilchen und ein Hauch Gewürz. Am Gaumen wirkt Barbera mittelkräftig mit niedriger bis moderater Tanninstruktur, was ihn besonders trinkanimierend macht. Im Edelstahltank zeigt er klare Frische und präzise Frucht, mit kurzer Fassreife kommen feine Noten von Zedernholz, Kakao und mehr Tiefe hinzu. In Stellenbosch verbindet Barbera reife rote Frucht mit guter Spannung und einem langen, saftigen Finale. Passt vielseitig zu italienischer Küche, Ragù, Pizza Funghi, gegrilltem Fleisch und Pilzgerichten.

Der Idiom Rotwein Barbera harmoniert hervorragend mit Tagliatelle al Ragù, da die lebendige Säure die Fülle der Sauce ausbalanciert. Dunkles Rind oder Lamm – kurz gegrillt oder geschmort – betont seine saftige Kirschfrucht. Pilz-Pasta und Risotto ai Funghi spiegeln die erdigen, tabakigen Untertöne. Zu Wurzelgemüse aus dem Ofen bringt er Frische und Struktur. Halbharterr bis gereifter Käse wie Pecorino oder Gruyère sind sehr stimmig. A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
