Purity, Protection, Clarity
From a one-time find in 2019, these specimens were named after the dominant species of cactus in the area. What is usually the common Quartz var. Amethyst, became a showstopper at the Denver Gem and Mineral Show.
Featuring a main milky Quartz stem, these specimens feature extreme hoppered growth, where, under fast growing and likely super-saturated conditions, the crystal ions on the main crystal started their individual growth. These results in a look akin to the commonly known “Cactus Quartz”, but with multiple sceptres that sprouts in all directions. Some specimens take on an Artichoke Quartz appearance, with all the Quartz pointers aligning in the same direction.
The yellow present in specimens is attributed to iron staining, and this provides an interesting contrast of colours to the specimens’ white and purple.
The rich purple of Amethyst represents purity of spirit, and is often viewed as a stone of peace. Amethyst also brings the dreamer more in tune with the Divine. Also used as a natural stress reliever, it promotes inner strength, spiritual maturity, and all-round protection.
