Ubisoft and Laced Records have renewed their adherence to the brotherhood to bring the music of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to vinyl. 

Assassin’s Creed Shadows transports players to the rich setting of feudal Japan, anchored by a soundtrack that fuses traditional instrumentation with playful modern production techniques. Montreal-based band TEKE::TEKE were commissioned to give the game’s swift and stealthy protagonist Naoe her impactful ‘needle drop’ story moments. 

The group’s surf and psych rock influences were a natural fit for the game’s direction, with the developers imagining a Tarantino soundtrack when sourcing music for Shadows. In a twist, the band were tasked with interpreting Jesper Kyd’s iconic series theme, “Ezio’s Family” — a fan favourite normally adapted as part of the score music. 

The TEKE::TEKE members’ Japanese heritage connected them deeply to the game’s setting. Fittingly, through their research and absorption in the project, the band tapped into ‘shinobi-do’, the philosophy of the shinobi that remains central to the game.
