Hand-painted Kashmiri papier-mâché box crafted in Srinagar, Kashmir and decorated with beautifully detailed Persian-inspired garden scenes. The black lacquer ground is richly painted with flowering plants, grape vines, courtly figures, and romantic scenes, while an Arabic calligraphic border encircles the lid.
Produced by Ali Brothers of Srinagar, this decorative box showcases the traditional papier-mâché artistry for which Kashmir is renowned. The interior is fitted with a metal liner, making the piece both decorative and functional.
