COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the course, Provide Suicide Bereavement Support, designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and sensitivity required to offer compassionate and effective support to those impacted by suicide loss. Suicide bereavement is a unique and complex experience that requires specialised understanding and approaches, and this course aims to provide participants with the tools necessary to navigate this challenging terrain.

In Section A, participants will explore the features of all types of loss and bereavement, with a specific focus on the distinct aspects of suicide bereavement. Different approaches to suicide bereavement support will be examined, highlighting their differences, boundaries, and effectiveness. Participants will also learn about suicide prevention and post-intervention strategies, including types of interventions and their appropriate usage. The role of language and communication in suicide bereavement support will be emphasised, along with the value of diverse mourning practices and rituals. Additionally, participants will delve into the impacts of lifespan and developmental issues on suicide bereavement, explore self-care strategies and available support services for workers, and gain an understanding of the legal and ethical considerations applied in both organisational and individual practice.

In Section B, participants will develop practical skills for providing comprehensive and sensitive suicide bereavement support. This includes identifying essential immediate and ongoing resources and processes for supporting individuals bereaved by suicide, proactively facilitating early access to services, and using intervention responses to address elevated suicide risk and increase safety. Participants will learn to develop and document plans that address the needs of individuals, families, and communities affected by suicide loss, interact with empathy, sensitivity, professionalism, and cultural awareness, and utilise effective communication approaches that acknowledge emotional needs. Furthermore, participants will learn to monitor their own stress levels, recognise and minimise risks associated with grief and bereavement support, and respond appropriately to the need for supervision and debriefing.

In addition, participants will learn how to apply their knowledge and skills to provide suicide bereavement support in response to various situations. They will engage with individuals using effective communication skills such as empathic listening, verbal and non-verbal techniques, clear and sensitive information provision, and obtaining feedback to confirm understanding.

By the end of this course, participants will be well-equipped to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and effective support to individuals and communities impacted by suicide loss, while also ensuring their own well-being and adherence to legal and ethical standards.

This course is designed to align with the content outlined in the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency CHCCCS018.

A classic story reimagined
Format: Kindle
Although it is rare that people don’t know who the Man of Steel is and what his origins are, I still highly recommend this to people that want to get to know the timeless character better. Superstar creators Mark Waid, Leinil Yu, and Gerry Alanguilan have retold the origin of Superman with more modern and relevant themes throughout the story. The characters are written well and their designs are great. I didn’t want to put it down when I read it, highly, highly recommended for anyone that wants to read Superman.

A fresh view on an old story
Format: Kindle
Mark Waid is one of my favorite comic writers. He make his characters feel real with flaws and fears. At the same time shows the best qualities of humanity in them. This is a good example of his ability to do so and even If it is no the best one I read from him, I still recommend it to any comic fan that enjoys a good story.

I enjoyed the book. It may have dragged on a little bit and Kal-El is a little moody but overall it was good
