On the palate a wine of structure and power framed by an abundance of tannins and acidity, core fruit flavours mirror the bouquet then layers of wood smoke and clove, new leather and baked nut. Length, new and still developing with best drinking from 2028 through 2036" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2025

"Lovely violets here alongside purple fruit, boysenberry and raspberry. Vibrant and elegant, very balanced and with sleek submerged tannins. The structure creates excellent flow, allowing the fruit to unfold long and late on the palate. Excellent acidity followed by a gentle grip right on the end, resulting in an elegant mid-weight pinot noir with presence. Very primary currently, it needs time to gain complexity before revealing its true potential" Stephen Wong, The Real Review, Sep 2025

A deep burgundy hue with subtle purple highlights sets the tone for this wine’s complexity. The nose is rich and layered, revealing brambly red and dark cherries, wild berry fruits, and lifted floral notes, underpinned by hints of exotic spice. On the palate, it offers concentrated, ripe fruit supported by refined tannins and a core of minerality. The finish is vibrant and mouth-watering, leaving a lingering impression of freshness and poise.

Established in 1984, Te Kairanga is an important part of the Martinborough wine story. Our home vineyards are planted on land that was originally owned by the founding father of Martinborough, John Martin. While our land is steeped in history, our winemaking is very much focused on the future.

Grapes for this wine are selected from our Todds, Home and McLeod Vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace, one of New Zealand’s most coveted winegrowing sub-regions. Once a riverbed, it features deep ancient alluvial gravel soils. Our vineyards are sustainably farmed.

A near perfect growing season from a quality view with a smaller crop due to unsettled flowering weather. Spring growth started early but flowering weather was varied and generally unsettled. The spring was dry. Mixed weather continued until the start of January when a month of hot dry weather set the base for a great vintage. A cool, dry February and March meant acidity levels remained high and fruit retained freshness. Dry harvest weather meant the small crop of concentrated fruit could be harvested at optimal ripeness with intense fruit flavours, moderate alcohol levels and fine acidity.

Under the direction of Chief Winemaker, John Kavanagh, our winemaking philosophy places a premium on the character of each vineyard. Crafted from our best vineyard parcels, the fruit for John Martin Pinot Noir is derived from three clones this year, including the famed Abel clone. It is hand-picked block by block, carefully hand sorted and destemmed. Fermented with wild yeast and hand plunged, the wine was aged for 12 months in the finest French oak barrels and blended. Unfined and unfiltered, our gentle winemaking ensures this wine captures the inimitable personality of the Te Kairanga terrior.

Food Pairing: Best paired with slow cooked wild duck & mushrooms to highlight those classic Martinborough savoury notes.

Pup Loves It, Some Other Notes
Color: Orange
We've had this for about six months and my 75 lb, 14-month-old German Shepherd pup LOVES IT. Her favorite is "Crazy Bouncing Mode." In fact, she doesn't care much for the normal mode. She chews it a lot - even drops it in her water bowl at times - and it's still going strong. This is a great purchase. It's nice hands-off entertainment. Do know that it is heavy compared to a normal ball - if your pup likes dropping it on the ground like mine does, it will land with a hard "thud," even with the included sleeve. Hopefully you don't have downstairs neighbors. Also know that the cover that goes over the charging port is removable and your dog may choke on it if they chew it in just the right manner. Definitely only let the pup play with it while supervised. All in all, great toy.

A total joke.
Pattern Name: Cage Ball, Size: Large - 4 Inch / 8.5 oz
I was so hopeful and really wanted this to be as good as the sellers claimed. After all, they boast of a lifetime replacement (a joke and be sure to read the ridiculous terms lol). I have a "pocket pitty" and she loves rubber toys. There is not much I have found that can withstand her force; however, reading reviews AND seeing their warranty, I wanted to give it a try. Typically, I stick with Java wood and XL super dense knotted ropes, as that has been the only thing that can last any real amount of time. Thankfully, she never goes after our stuff or household items/furniture, just her toys. The ball arrived. I checked it over. It looked semi promising. I was hopeful. The design does allow for them to leverage their paw strength by getting it between the rubber bars and then pull with their teeth. Within 3 minutes of her having it, she already had a bar ripped off. Within 5 minutes, she had 3 bars ripped off. Don't get me wrong, she had a blast. But this is by no means strong enough for an actual aggressive chewer. Perhaps there is just not anything rubber that can handle her jaws, but now I can't get a replacement because the warranty only covers if the product is defective. It doesn't cover chewing damage (on any of their products). The advertising is very misleading so be aware. Why a replacement if she will just destroy it again you may wonder? She loves to go after a ball, but now I know she can kill this one, I keep them in a drawer and only let her play fetch with it while supervised. I will say though, I you have a puppy, I think this would be great for them as long as they are not extra large. The material has give, which is nice. But if you have a real aggressive chewer, don't waste the money.
