Artisan’s Son offers a complete waxed garment restoration and rewaxing service, designed to clean, revive and protect waxed jackets, oilskins and canvas garments — restoring performance while preserving character.

What’s Included

Stage 1: Outer Garment Clean & De-Wax

A specialist hand-cleaning process that removes old waxes, oils and surface contaminants.

• No solvents used — solvents weaken and damage waxed fabrics
• Carefully hand-cleaned by our experienced team

Stage 2: Inner Garment Clean

The inner lining is spot-treated for stains, then fully cleaned, deodorised and antibacterially treated to prevent odours returning.

Most waxed garments feature an unwaxed inner lining that cannot be cleaned using washing machines or dry cleaning. Our process safely treats this layer.

Stage 3: Mould (Mold), Bacteria & Odour Treatment

With the waxes and oils now removed, the garment can be properly treated for mould, bacteria and any lingering odours. These are all removed to leave your garment fresh and wearable.

Stage 4: Garment Re-Waxing

2–3 coats of Artisan’s Son Premium Wax-Based Fabric Wax are applied to waterproof and protect the outer shell.

Stage 5: Quality Assurance Checks

Each garment is carefully inspected, hand buffed around buttons, collars and zipper to ensure no excess wax remains; and signed off by a team member to ensure finish, protection and performance meet Artisan’s Son standards.

Garment alterations, fixing and mending can be performed alongside all services.
Please request these with your order (additional charges apply).

How the Service Works

1. Place your order
   Once the order has been placed you’ll receive an email from the team informing you the shipping address (based in metropolitan Adelaide to keep shipping costs low).
2. Ship your garment
   Send your item using a prepaid Australia Post satchel, padded mailer or box. Ensure your name is included inside the parcel or on the return address.
3. Restoration timeframe
   Allow 2–3 weeks from receipt for the restoration or rewaxing service.
4. Return shipping
   Once complete, your garment is shipped back to you. You’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking details.
