So, we decided to introduce something just for them - something much more thick and comfy. A luxury wool dog bed! Not only did we want to produce something of exceptional quality for our furry best friends, we wanted to make something that was truly sustainable too. That's why every single one of our natural sheep wool dog beds is made using only the highest quality natural materials, utilising handcrafting and low energy making methods, as well as small batch, low waste production too - we're ensuring that this luxe doggy mattress is well and truly environmentally friendly. The most beautiful sustainable choice.

Entirely handmade in our factory close to the Lake District, our natural wool dog beds consist of a wonderful removable organic cotton cover, which can simply be machine washed on a 30 degree gentle wash. These beautiful organic cotton covers are then filled to the brim with chunky, thick Herdwick wool felt pads to create a delightfully bouncy, comfy cost dog bed. Like all of our other Herdwick wool products, all of the wool for these beds has been sourced directly from the farmers themselves, they're paid a fair price for their sheep wool and we collect it ourselves. Each bed contains more Herdwick wool felt than there is in three of our Chimney Sheep chimney draught excluders (that's a whole lot of wool!) . They're filled to the brim - making them not only comfy, but chunky, weighty and a real touch of luxury for your dog.

Every piece of these high quality wool filled dog mats is carefully crafted. A member of the Chimney Sheep team hand makes every single component, from hand trimming the felt that fills these heavyweight dog beds, to sizing, sewing and fitting the beautiful organic cotton covers. There's zero plastic content in these stylish dog beds, they're free from artificial dyes, synthetics, glues and solvents - the perfect sustainable sprawling spot for your dog.

We've carefully chosen a range of delightful designs in neutral tones that we feel will suit a range of styles and decors.

Each bed measures approximately : 100cm x 72cm and is more than 4cm thick!

How can I make more eco-conscious choices for my dog?

Making more environmentally friendly choices when it comes to your dog is something we feel every owner should paws for thought on. The environmental impact of owning a dog as a pet is significant. From pet apparel such as beds, collars and lead to their diet which often consist primarily of meat. Dogs can leave quite the mark (or paw print) on the environment. Most pet products these days are made of plastic, and aren't designed to last - with the rise in demand for pet products such as 'stylish' collars, leads and beds - pet fast fashion is starting to become somewhat of a reality (though we'd like to add, not our dog beds - they're designed to be used and  washed again and again - lasting for years!).  But, despite being made of plastic many of these products aren't readily recyclable at end of life - often because they're mixed with a variety of solvents and glues too. This means tonnes and tonnes of non-biodegradable pet products are going to landfill - making up part of the 27 million tonnes of plastic that ends up in landfill each year.

But, as dog owners you can help change that. You can make swaps to more ethical, natural, eco-friendly pet products.
