Popular during the Victorian era, mourning beads were often worn during periods of mourning as a symbol of remembrance and respect for a deceased loved one. They were commonly made from materials such as jet, black glass, vulcanite, or French jet, and were fashioned into necklaces, rosaries, and decorative chains. The deep black color represented grief . Mourning accessories in general were considered a standard part of the grieving process. Many even changed out their buttons into jet black buttons to represent how deeply grieved they were.

This necklace set is made from wired Victorian black molded French glass beads. These specific type of beads were worn when a person was in mourning for a loss loved one. That is where their name “mourning beads“ came from.
The necklace is 41 inches long plus the addition of a 2 inch cameo. I decided to mix metals for this piece because I like how it made the black stand out. The cameo is a modern cameo, but paired absolutely perfectly with these mourning beads to give it an accurate appearance of its time period. The beauty and the cameo features lovely curly locks. She admires a little dove that has come to visit her.
I used two larger mourning beads to make the matching earrings.
If you notice the details of the beads, no two are exactly alike because of the way they were made in molds.

Incredible reference tool
Format: Paperback
I love it & my preceptor thinks it’s amazing too! However, she did bring to my attention the poor representation of African Americans & how they’re under represented in derm as a whole !!! Maybe the updated versions will be more inclusive !!!!

Easy to use, great pics
Format: Paperback
I like this and it's good about showing problems in skin of color. It's not quite as durable as I would like.
