Courtney Prahl — "Angling in the Stream III" is a compelling example of contemporary botanical illustration that transcends its subject to become a meditation on form and texture. The work aligns with the tradition of naturalistic representation while simultaneously embracing a modern, abstract sensibility through its layered, collage-like construction. Prahl employs a sophisticated composition, balancing the organic, sinuous curve of the fish against the expansive negative space of the off-white background, creating a visual rhythm that is both dynamic and serene. The color palette, dominated by earthy beiges and soft ochres, is punctuated by vibrant accents of orange and blue, which serve to highlight the fish's anatomical details and create a subtle sense of movement. This deliberate use of color and contrast enhances the tactile quality of the piece, suggesting a materiality that is both delicate and resilient. The integration of text within the fish's body is a key formal innovation, transforming the artwork into a layered narrative that speaks to the intersection of nature and human culture. Prahl's technique, which combines painted elements with paper collage, demonstrates a masterful control of texture and depth, resulting in a work that is both visually engaging and conceptually rich. In its fusion of traditional naturalism with contemporary abstraction, "Angling in the Stream III" represents a significant contribution to the ongoing evolution of botanical art, positioning Prahl as a key figure in the movement towards organic, nature-inspired modernism. For more art by Courtney Prahl click here.

Annoying sound but DOGGY TOY JOY!!
Pattern Name: Skunk
My 14 month old is squeaker OBSESSED, but she easily does surgery and defluffs. However this toy has been perfect. The sound when you shake is over the top and creates so much excitement. She loves to chase and chew this and play tug with this, and no tears from tug or points where she's tried to excise squeaker so far!

Great toy loved by 3 big dogs
Pattern Name: Skunk
We have a black lab and 2 grandpups (a Great Dane and a Cane Corso) that visit regularly. All 3 love this toy. All 3 destroy toys pretty quickly, sometimes within minutes. I have no idea what it is about this one, but they have not even remotely destroyed it except for major slobber damage from being so loved. I bought the first one months ago from TJ Maxx and then bought another on here thinking it could be a replacement when the first one got destroyed. The first one has yet to be destroyed. It sounds like there is a water bottle inside of it but it is some kind of coil thing. That being said, this toy can be very annoying to listen to, but we tolerate it for 3 very happy dogs.

Not for us, unfortunately.
Pattern Name: Chipmunk
Cute idea. We have doxies. Unfortunately, they ripped the apart in 5 minutes to get to the squeaker. I'm sure other breeds are more gentle with their toys. It would be a great toy for them.

Very durable
Pattern Name: Chipmunk
Our dog loves this "squeaky." He got it as a gift 11 months ago and I finally had to replace it because he almost had the head and tail chewed off -- took him about a year of chewing. I almost hated to throw the old one away because the squeakers still worked! Our dog is small -- about 22 lbs. -- but is a terrier mix and loves playing tug-of-war with this Zippy toy and he also loves shaking it like crazy. It's a great value compared to the toys I find in the local pet stores. Most of those "die" because he punctures them with his teeth so they no longer squeak. This one is well worth the price.

My big dogs FAVE!
Pattern Name: Chipmunk, Pattern Name: Chipmunk
These are the absolute best! We bought one in store over the holidays because they don’t have the stuffing that dogs like to pull out. My big dog thinks it’s his baby, but it’s light enough for my small dogs. As it got tattered from being carried, fetched, and bathed… we needed a replacement. He doesn’t do anything without his baby. He immediately took to this as it wasn’t brand new. Success with the replacement. I will definitely be buying again, because nobody one wants a sad pup.
