Mobile Fidelity Electronics UltraDeck Turntable at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The UltraDeck is a 2-speed belt-drive turntable from Mobile Fidelity Electronics (MoFi Electronics, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Custom-designed and manufactured in the USA, the UltraDeck embodies Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's decades-long pursuit of faithful reproduction of recorded music — the same philosophy behind MoFi's legendary Original Master Recordings and UltraDisc One-Step limited-edition vinyl pressings. At its foundation is MoFi's 10-inch Ultra Tonearm, a straight aluminum gimbaled-bearing assembly custom-built for low-friction, accurate tracking, paired with a 6.8-lb Delrin platter for a low noise floor and stable rotation. An isolated 300 RPM AC synchronous motor delivers measured wow and flutter of just 0.017% to 0.025%, and Harmonic Resolution Systems anti-vibration feet decouple the plinth from environmental vibration for clean, uncolored playback of every groove.

10-Inch MoFi Ultra Tonearm

The UltraDeck is fitted with MoFi's 10-inch Ultra Tonearm, custom-designed and manufactured in the USA as a straight aluminum tube on a gimbaled bearing system using precision ball bearings in both the vertical and horizontal planes. The gimbaled architecture delivers consistent, low-friction tracking stability across both axes without the setup sensitivity associated with unipivot designs, allowing the stylus to follow groove modulations accurately from the outermost band to the lead-out groove. An 18mm overhang and 22.8-degree offset angle — adjustable plus or minus 2 degrees — place the stylus on a geometry that minimizes tracking error across the playing surface, and the arm accepts cartridges weighing between 5g and 10g, covering a broad range of moving-magnet designs and lighter moving-coil cartridges. The 10-inch effective length reduces the angular tracking error inherent in shorter arms, making the Ultra Tonearm a meaningful upgrade over the 8.6-inch and 9-inch arms found on many competing belt-drive turntables at this tier.

Isolated AC Synchronous Motor, Delrin Platter, and HRS Isolation

The UltraDeck's 300 RPM AC synchronous motor is mechanically isolated from the plinth to prevent motor-borne vibration from reaching the platter bearing or tonearm. The synchronous motor design locks rotational speed to the frequency of the AC supply, producing the measured wow and flutter performance of 0.017% to 0.025% — figures that reflect tight speed stability across both 33.3 and 45 RPM playback rates. The 6.8-lb Delrin platter spins on a precision bearing and provides the playing surface for both standard LPs and MoFi's own UltraDisc One-Step pressings. Delrin, an acetal resin developed by DuPont, is chosen for its highly crystalline molecular structure, which presents an acoustic impedance closely matched to vinyl and efficiently dissipates groove-generated vibration into the platter mass rather than reflecting it back through the stylus as noise. Harmonic Resolution Systems anti-vibration feet beneath the plinth decouple the entire assembly from floor-borne vibration and acoustic feedback, preventing spurious stylus modulation that would otherwise mask low-level musical detail. Power supply compatibility spans 120V 60Hz, 220-230V 50Hz, and 100V 50Hz, making the UltraDeck usable worldwide with no voltage conversion required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MoFi Electronics UltraDeck turntable?

The UltraDeck is a 2-speed belt-drive turntable from Mobile Fidelity Electronics, custom-designed and manufactured in the USA. It features a 10-inch straight aluminum gimbaled-bearing Ultra Tonearm, a 6.8-lb Delrin platter, a mechanically isolated 300 RPM AC synchronous motor, and Harmonic Resolution Systems anti-vibration feet. Measured wow and flutter of 0.017% to 0.025% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 74 dB reflect its precision engineering, and it is compatible with power supplies worldwide. It is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.

How does the UltraDeck compare to the Pro-Ject X2 B and the Rega Planar 3?

The UltraDeck holds meaningful technical advantages over both competitors. Against the Pro-Ject X2 B, which uses a 10-inch carbon-fiber sandwich tonearm, a 1.4kg aluminum platter, and a DC motor with electronic speed control, the UltraDeck counters with a heavier 6.8-lb Delrin platter for greater rotational inertia and lower noise floor, HRS isolation feet versus the Pro-Ject's standard rubber feet, and a USA-manufactured tonearm rather than an imported assembly. Against the Rega Planar 3, which uses a lightweight phenolic plinth, a 24V AC motor, and Rega's own RB330 tonearm in a 9-inch geometry, the UltraDeck offers a longer 10-inch arm for reduced angular tracking error, a substantially heavier Delrin platter, and HRS vibration isolation that the Planar 3's lightweight philosophy explicitly avoids. Neither the X2 B nor the Planar 3 is designed with MoFi's UltraDisc One-Step pressings specifically in mind, making the UltraDeck the natural partner for owners of MoFi's own high-resolution vinyl releases.

Can the UltraDeck play MoFi UltraDisc One-Step records?

Yes, the UltraDeck is specifically suited to playing MoFi UltraDisc One-Step limited-edition pressings. Mobile Fidelity designed the UltraDeck to be the ideal playback partner for its own high-resolution vinyl releases, and the combination of a 6.8-lb Delrin platter, isolated AC synchronous motor, and 10-inch Ultra Tonearm provides the speed stability, low noise floor, and precise tracking geometry needed to retrieve the full resolution encoded in UltraDisc One-Step records. Standard 33.3 and 45 RPM LPs are equally well served by the same engineering.

What is the difference between the UltraDeck and the MasterDeck?

The MasterDeck sits above the UltraDeck as MoFi Electronics' reference-grade turntable, adding several significant engineering upgrades. The MasterDeck uses a three-phase brushless DC motor with optical speed regulation for active real-time speed correction, versus the UltraDeck's 300 RPM AC synchronous motor that relies on supply frequency stability. The MasterDeck also adds 78 RPM capability with fine-speed trim adjustment, a heavier 14.35-lb hybrid Aluminum-Delrin platter versus the UltraDeck's 6.8-lb Delrin platter, an Encapsulated Spiral Groove Inverted Bearing versus the UltraDeck's standard bearing, a dual-pivot unipivot/gimbal hybrid tonearm with Cardas Audio wiring versus the UltraDeck's straight gimbaled arm, and a solid wood frame finished in Walnut or Black Ash. The UltraDeck delivers the core MoFi engineering philosophy at a more accessible level, while the MasterDeck represents the company's no-compromise reference statement.

What cartridge should I use with the UltraDeck?

The UltraDeck's 10-inch Ultra Tonearm accepts cartridges weighing between 5g and 10g, covering the majority of moving-magnet designs and lighter moving-coil cartridges. MoFi Electronics' own UltraGold and UltraTracker moving-magnet cartridges are voiced to complement the UltraDeck's tonearm and Delrin platter, and both are available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto alongside the turntable itself. The adjustable 22.8-degree offset angle allows precise stylus alignment for any compatible cartridge to minimize distortion across the playing surface.

Where can I buy the MoFi Electronics UltraDeck in Toronto or Canada?

The MoFi Electronics UltraDeck turntable is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Mobile Fidelity Electronics dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound stocks the full MoFi Electronics turntable lineup including the UltraDeck, MasterDeck, and the MoFi x Fender American Vintage, and can assist customers across Toronto and Canada with cartridge selection, phono stage pairing, and setup guidance.

Does the UltraDeck work outside North America?

Yes, the UltraDeck includes a universal power supply compatible with 120V 60Hz, 220-230V 50Hz, and 100V 50Hz mains voltages, making it usable in North America, Europe, Japan, and most other regions without a voltage converter or step-down transformer. Power consumption is under 5 watts, so the turntable places negligible demand on any standard household circuit regardless of regional voltage standard.

How should I set up and position the UltraDeck for best performance?

The UltraDeck performs best when placed on a level, rigid surface — a dedicated equipment rack or solid shelf — with adequate clearance on all sides for ventilation and access to the tonearm. The Harmonic Resolution Systems isolation feet handle the majority of floor-borne vibration decoupling, but the turntable benefits from being positioned away from loudspeakers to minimize acoustic feedback from the room. Cartridge alignment should be checked using the 18mm overhang and 22.8-degree offset angle as the starting point, with the offset angle adjusted within the available plus or minus 2-degree range to optimize stylus geometry for the specific cartridge in use. Vinyl Sound in Toronto can provide setup assistance and cartridge alignment guidance for customers purchasing the UltraDeck.

great book
Format: Kindle
I am really excited to meet the author at the book retreat this month. I really enjoyed this world that she built and most of the female main character Huntress is so awesome. She goes through a lot in this book and the ending; wow! I wouldn't have even guessed. I highly recommend everyone to read this book. I have been so lucky this year that almost all the books I have read have been, so far, 5 out 5 stars.

Fallen for the Fallen Angel – A Guilty Pleasure Worth Every Page
Format: Kindle
There’s something deeply irresistible about a dark academia or trial-based setting, a brooding and arrogant fallen angel, and a fierce heroine with enough sass to go toe-to-toe with him. Wings So Wicked is exactly that kind of book—and I devoured it in just a couple of days. To be fair, the plot isn’t groundbreaking. If you’re looking for something fresh and innovative in terms of storyline, this might not be it. But if your reader heart beats faster at the mere mention of enemies-to-lovers, jealousy-fueled banter, magical trials, betrayals, and forbidden tension—you’ll feel right at home. It’s like catnip for those of us with this particular weakness. The chemistry between the leads could have used a slightly slower burn to make the tension sizzle longer, but I still found myself completely invested in their dynamic. There are moments and phrases that feel a bit cheesy or underdeveloped, but honestly? I didn’t care. The vibes were exactly what I wanted. This book isn’t trying to reinvent the genre—it’s here to give readers like me what we crave: high-stakes magical drama, angsty romance, and the thrill of watching a badass girl and her brooding counterpart clash and spark. If that sounds like your kind of story, Wings So Wicked will hit the mark. Here’s hoping Book 2 turns up the heat and keeps the magic alive.

Format: Kindle
Ok so I never write reviews but this book was so good I felt the need to write this. Firstly your introduced to Huntyr you see her closed off hard core badass than towards the end you see the most subtle change and growth it’s amazing and the enemies to friends to lovers was just perfect, AND THE TWIST AT THE END GOT ME GOOD! You see one spicy scene the whole book but it doesn’t even MATTER BECAUSE THE BOOK WAS THAT GOOD. I’ve read 85 books in 2023-2024 so far and I’m pround to say this is my all time favorite. I’m so excited to read more of Emily Blackwoods books, this was my first time reading one of hers and I’m glad I did because HOLY!! Well done Emily well done

4.25 stars! I LOVED this book with similar vibes to Hush Hush, Fourth Wing, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night! It was fast paced with easy world building and will keep you turning the pages late into the night because you will not want to put it down! Huntyr is a fierce bad@ss FMC trained to kill vampyres her entire life. She is sent on a mission to go to the academy and earn her spot into The Golden City. Excellent Rivals to Lovers!!
Format: Kindle
The tension and banter between Huntyr and Wold was delectable. I absolutely love the fallen angel and all of his flaws. Huntyr is amazing too being a badass FMC with some major trauma. The world building was great and I enjoyed the training aspect of the story. The writing was immersive and was in the story the whole time. The ending had quite a twist that I hadn’t anticipated and made my jaw DROP. Excellent job! I also loved the narration. Laura is one of my fave narrators!
