About 160 million years ago, when tectonic plates were rifting Africa and South America apart as the Atlantic Ocean opened, one of the world’s great flood basalt events was occurring. Basalts flowed from the rift, producing stratified lava flows thousands of feet thick in Brazil and nearby Uruguay.

Within these flows, gas bubbles and lava tubes created cavities that were first lined by a layer of agate, and then by a complete covering of coarse crystalline quartz. At this point the geodes were formed, but they were filled with rock crystal instead of amethyst.

However, as these geodes remained buried, they were irradiated by the decay of radioactive minerals in the surrounding basalts. This radiation created color centers in the quartz, and that transformed the clear quartz into amethyst you see today in the geodes from Brazil and Uruguay.

Geode colors depend on the agate layer inside the rock and the type of crystals that form on the agate layer.

Generally, the agate layer determines the majority of the geode’s color. The color of the agate depends on how the minerals are distributed inside of the stone.

🌈 If an abundance of iron oxide and cobalt are present, the colors will be red. If titanium is present, the colors will be in the blue family. Manganese produces pink coloration, while chromium and nickel result in green hues. The quartz on top of the agate are generally either white or transparent, but quartz may have coloration as well.

Amethyst was used in ancient times to recover from both physical addictions as well as addictive relationships, and became know as the “stone of sobriety”. A natural stress reliever, Amethyst can encourage inner strength. The strong healing energy of Amethyst can transmute lower vibrations to higher frequencies, transforming negative energy to love energy.

Overall it is a healer beyond measure for practically everything. Amethyst is particularly well known to treat addictions on all levels and it provides a protective shield around the aura against psychic attack or negativity. It is also very helpful in reducing rage, anger, tension, anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares.

In the case of depression or sadness, Amethyst is known to balance the highs and lows and help one to become more centered even in the midst of grief or loss.

Amethyst is also known for its ability to improve mental functioning, focus, concentration, decision-making, memory and motivation.

My Go-To Sublimation Paper — Flawless Results Every Time
    Size: 8.5"x11", Size: 8.5"x11"
This is hands down the best sublimation paper I’ve used and the only one I continue to buy. I get a perfect transfer every single time—no fracturing, no fading, and no uneven results. The paper dries fast, which makes my workflow so much smoother, especially when I’m producing items in batches. I use this regularly to make air fresheners and tote bags for my small business, and the color payoff is always vibrant and crisp. The transfer rate is excellent, and it works beautifully on light-colored, high-quality polyester and other sublimation-ready surfaces. If you’re a small business owner or crafter who values consistency, quality, and ease of use, this paper is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend it and will continue to repurchase.

    Best Sublimation Paper
    Size: 8.5"x11"
I’ve been using A-Sub paper for my sublimation projects, and it is easily one of the best. The ink dries almost instantly once printed, so I don’t have to worry about smudging the design or getting those annoying "pizza wheel" marks from the printer rollers. The paper itself feels substantial and doesn't tear or curl easily. One of the biggest wins for me is that it never jams; it feeds through perfectly every time, saving me the frustration of wasting expensive ink and paper. When I go to press my designs, the ink releases almost completely, leaving very little behind on the paper and putting all that color onto the project. The final results look super professional, with colors that are vibrant and sharp rather than looking faded or dull. It has worked perfectly for everything I’ve tried so far, and if you want a reliable paper that gives you consistent, high-quality results, this is definitely the one to get.
