It begins when two young boys discover the 100-year-old skeleton of a murdered man buried near the grounds of Belle Reve, a Greek revival style mansion built in the 1870s. Rachel Belmond, owner of Belle Reve, is petrified. Beautiful, and still young at 47, Rachel is also in failing health, her deteriorating condition baffling doctors.
