This Aquamarine with Feldspar Natural Mineral Specimen is a stunning and rare combination of two highly sought-after minerals, making it a true collector's piece.

  1. Crystal Formation:

    • The Aquamarine crystal displays exceptional prismatic growth with sharp hexagonal edges, rising vertically with a well-defined termination. Its clarity is remarkable, with a glassy luster that enhances its aesthetic appeal. The transparency allows you to glimpse into its internal world, showcasing slight natural inclusions that add to its uniqueness.
    • The surrounding Feldspar matrix serves as a contrasting and supportive base, highlighting the Aquamarine's beauty. The Feldspar shows a creamy white color with a textured surface, adding visual and structural depth to the specimen.
  2. Color Characteristics:

    • The Aquamarine boasts a vivid sky-blue hue, characteristic of its high iron content within the Beryl family. The intensity of the color is further amplified by the crystal's clarity and light-reflective properties. This natural coloration makes the specimen particularly desirable to both mineral collectors and enthusiasts.
  3. Rarity and Combination:

    • This combination of Aquamarine perched on a Feldspar matrix is relatively rare and highly valued. The strong and clean contrast between the vibrant blue Aquamarine and the neutral white Feldspar enhances its visual appeal, making it a centerpiece for any collection.
  4. Formation and Origin:

    • Such specimens form in pegmatitic environments, where slow cooling of magma allows for the growth of large, well-formed crystals. The Aquamarine's vibrant color indicates minimal impurities, while the Feldspar matrix highlights the natural geological processes that created this masterpiece.
  5. Display Potential:

    • Its upright orientation, with the Aquamarine standing elegantly atop the Feldspar, makes this specimen ideal for display purposes. Whether placed under direct light to emphasize its brilliance or housed in a curated collection, it commands attention effortlessly.
  6. Uses and Appeal:

    • Aquamarine is often associated with calmness, clarity, and harmony, making this specimen a favorite among metaphysical practitioners as well. The Feldspar matrix adds grounding energy, further complementing its appeal.

This Aquamarine with Feldspar Natural Mineral Specimen is a one-of-a-kind marvel, a testament to nature's artistry and precision, perfect for collectors, healers, or anyone captivated by the beauty of natural minerals.

Fascinating and beautifully written.
Format: Hardcover
Clear and compelling reading of the much-neglected history of Carthage -- all its histories had been written by the victors in Rome. BTEW y four-colour photo insert was missing a page....shame on Norton, the puboisher.

Excellent Overview of Carthage
Format: Hardcover
293 pages of text/maps/b&w figures; 8 pages of color plates; 15 pages of end notes (mostly citations); 20 page Bibliography; 6 page Primary Bibliography; 2 page Acknowledgements; 8 area maps; 1 battle map [Cannae]. This is a well written history of Carthage. It provides a one source overview of the background and history of the city/empire. As a reasonably well read layperson, I am familiar at an overview level with the Punic Wars, Rome, Alexander, and the Alexandrine successor states and this book packaged Carthaginian information very well while adding interesting information that I hadn't come across before. I was somewhat disappointed (hence the 4 star rather than 5 star rating) that there was a very limited drill down to a lower level of detail, particularly from such a noted author. However, this is probably an unfair criticism given the limited amount of archeological information available and the millennia of effort that has been spent in pigeonholing Carthage according to the desired perceptions. I recommend the book highly as a well written overview of Carthage.
