FabFilter 사가 Saturn 1 발표 8년 만에 Saturn 2 버전을 발표했습니다. Saturn 1은 출시 때부터 멀티밴드 디스토션과 세츄레이션 플러그인 부분에서 여러 매체의 수상을 거머쥐며 뜨거운 관심을 받았었는데요, 2는 1버전보다 두 배의 디스토션 타입을 갖추고 모듈레이션 기능을 대폭 강화해 많은 사람들의 기대를 한 몸에 받고 있습니다. 어떠한 변화들이 있는지 알아보겠습니다. 

 

모듈레이션 시각화가 포함된 새 인터페이스

Saturn 2는 어두운 바탕색을 채용하여 확장된 세션을 쉽게 볼 수 있으며, 4가지 인터페이스 크기 옵션과 전체 화면 모드를 통해 모든 작업 공간에 적응할 수 있습니다. 모듈레이션 입력에 응답하여 애니메이션 처리되는 노브 및 슬라이더의 색상 코드 및 트랙, 모든 신호에 대한 눈길을 끄는 개요를 제공하는 소스 흐름 영역 및 컨트롤 표시, 파라미터 모듈레이션을 한눈에 확인할 수 있도록 처리한 밴드 등을 통해 소스 및 대상 모두에서 모듈레이션를 포괄적으로 시각화할 수 있습니다. 

 

더 많은 디스토션 타입

Saturn 2는 보드의 디스토션 스타일 수를 16에서 28로 거의 두 배 늘렸습니다. Tape, Tube, Saturation 스타일의 'Subtle' 버전은 은은한 따듯함을 제공하는 동시에 영국(Rock, Pop) 및 미국(Tweed, Plexi)의 잘 알려진 4개의 새로운 기타 앰프, 3가지 트랜스포머 스타일(Subtle, Gentle, Warm)을 완벽하게 모델링하며 Foldback 및 Breakdown FX 스타일은 인식할 수 없는 사운드를 재구성하고 변경한 후 다운 피킹과 해비한 디스토션과 결합합니다.

 

모듈레이션의 큰 변화

Saturn 1은 16단계 XLFO, 엔벌로프 제너레이터, 엔벨로프 팔로워, XY 컨트롤러 및 프리셋에 사용할 수 있는 MIDI 소스의 조합에 대한 제한이 사실상 없기 때문에 사운드 디자인의 가능성이 무궁무진했었는데요, Saturn 2는 이러한 시스템을 한 단계 끌어올렸습니다. Envelope Generator의 Attack과 Decay 커브, 더 부드럽거나 더 공격적인 리스폰스의 Release가 업그레이드됐으며 Envelope Follower의 새로운 Transient 감지 모드를 활성화하면 드럼과 퍼커션을 정확히 추적, 하이햇과 킥 드럼의 리듬과 밴드 대역에 따라 입력 시 분리하여 Envelope 소스로 라우팅도 가능하게 되었습니다.

 

마스터링급의 세츄레이션

새로운 'Subtle' 세츄레이션 타입을 적용해 마스터링 엔지니어의 비밀 무기인 "생생한 존재감과 화려함"을 재현할 수 있게 되었습니다. 이러한 미션 크리티컬 애플리케이션의 정확한 요구를 충족하기 위해 밴드 크로스 오버는 이제 6, 12, 24, 36 및 48dB/옥타브 롤오프 슬로프 선택지를 제공합니다. 새로운 'Superb' High Quality 모드 스위치는 에일리어싱을 거의 제거할 수 있도록 32x 오버 샘플링을 제공하고 Linear Phase 옵션은 크로스 오버 및 High Quality 모드에 대한 일관성을 보장합니다.

The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.

I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.

Vale is not a traditional omega she was raised by a single beta mom, and the alphas are not normal alphas they have never really loved pack life. But they are ruthless mercenaries. They need her, and she needs them. I love the aspect of the stalker and now the plot twists at the end, so so good. Sometimes, it seemed a little slow and stale mated, but since this a duet, I think It was just her starting to have Vale get to know her alpha suitors. Cliffhanger for sure with this one.

I don’t normally read books with pregnancy but going into this knowing she was pregnant made it more enjoyable for me. I loved Bishops devotion to her and her happiness. I also loved that Holt and Mercy couldn’t fight their attraction to her. I love scent matches so very much. I’m so curious to see how this duet will end up. And I need to pay more attention and notice that a book I’m starting is a duet to begin with lol
