COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to The Information Management Function course. This program has been designed to equip you with a deep understanding of how information is managed within modern organisations, why information management is critical to strategic and operational success, and how organisational structures, technologies, and governance practices influence the effectiveness of information systems. You will examine the evolution of information and communication technology (ICT), the benefits and challenges associated with managing information, and the frameworks that guide organisational decision making in this field.

This course begins by exploring what is meant by information management and how information is managed in modern organisations. This section explains the definition of information management, the processes involved in collecting, storing, processing, distributing, and securing information, the reasons organisations require a formal information management function, and the historical development of information and communication technology (ICT) management that shaped today’s digital operating environment.

The next learning area examines the main generic benefits of ICT and the key challenges faced by the information management function. This section explains how ICT improves efficiency, supports decision making, enables communication, and enhances service delivery; identifies the ongoing challenges that information managers face; outlines the issues that continue to occupy the attention of ICT leaders; and introduces the key concepts that underpin modern information management practice.

The next learning area focuses on strategic alignment and major information management models. This section explains the challenge of aligning organisational goals with ICT investments, Nolan’s six stage model of ICT maturity, the organisational characteristics across each stage of implementing a new information system, the categories of the applications portfolio concept, and Parsons’ conceptual framework for understanding the organisational role of ICT.

The next learning area explores knowledge management and its significance. This section examines the nature of knowledge management systems, the challenges associated with capturing, storing, and transferring knowledge, and the organisational factors that influence how knowledge is created, shared, and retained across departments and teams.

The next learning area addresses how to organise and lead the information technology function. This section explains organisational structures for IT leadership, how to organise issues in IT development, the implications of introducing new technologies, the pressures toward user dominance and the resulting pent-up user demand, the importance of professional growth for ICT staff, and the competitive and service growth trends shaping the broader IT market.

The next learning area outlines the governance and control considerations required in information management. This section explains the pressures toward IT control, the purpose of a corporate database strategy, the role of cost analysis in ICT decision making, the coordination and location of IT policy within the organisation, the central tasks that form the core IT responsibilities, the user responsibilities associated with IT service delivery, and the general management support and policy oversight required to ensure ICT effectiveness.

The next learning area reviews corporate IT policy and organisational accountability. This section explains the key responsibilities of a corporate IT policy group, how such groups support governance, ensure alignment with organisational strategy, maintain standards, manage risks, and promote consistent practices across departments and operating units.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand the purpose and scope of information management, recognise the strategic and operational challenges facing ICT functions, interpret major information management models, evaluate the organisational impact of new technologies, identify the requirements for effective IT governance, and contribute to the design and management of information systems that support organisational performance and innovation.

Better Than OEM – Worth the Upgrade
Size: 1" x 1" x 1"
The K&N filter is a big step up from the standard Toyota air filters and OEM replacements. Installation was quick and easy, and the fit is perfect. I’ve noticed smoother airflow and better throttle response compared to the stock filter. The best part is that it’s washable and reusable, so it’s a long-term investment instead of constantly buying replacements. Definitely a smarter choice for anyone who wants performance and value over the typical paper filters.

Does the job, economical and a perfect fit
Size: 1" x 1" x 1"
Bought exactly 1 year ago for 3rd Gen Tundra. So far, it really does the job. At first I didn’t realize how awesome it was until I had to remove and clean it yesterday. Although I keep my truck immaculate inside and out, after 1 years use, the filter had become extremely filthy and the air had an old mildew, vomit, stank smell. When clean and set for fresh air, I can only faintly notice diesel exhaust smells from those in front of me. I also notice little to no dust accumulation on my dash and flat surfaces. In my opinion the K&N cabin filter kit is an essential tool for cleaning this filter. K&N made the filter, so I would imagine that they know how to clean and refresh it properly. By the way, refresh solution is nearly fragrance free. I bought the refresh kit at a big box auto supply and it came in a mostly black box instead of the white box as sold on here. Don’t know if that means the formulation has changed or not.
