Installation Guide

  1. Preparation: Disconnect the fuel line and tilt the engine to access the lower unit. Gather necessary tools including socket wrenches, screwdrivers, and a torque wrench.
  2. Remove Lower Unit: Drain the gear oil completely using the drain screws. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit to the mid-section and carefully separate the lower unit.
  3. Water Pump Disassembly: Remove the old water pump housing by unscrewing the mounting bolts. Carefully extract the old impeller, wear plate, cup insert, and seals.
  4. Clean Components: Thoroughly clean the water pump cavity and inspect for corrosion or damage. Ensure all mating surfaces are smooth and free of debris.
  5. Install New Water Pump Parts: Insert the new key onto the driveshaft, then slide the new impeller (lubricate blades with glycerin or soapy water) onto the shaft with blades facing the correct direction. Install the new wear plate, cup insert, O-ring, and water seal per the service manual.
  6. Reassemble Water Pump Housing: Position the new housing over the assembly and secure with the provided bolts, torquing to manufacturer specifications (typically 7–10 ft-lbs).
  7. Replace Filters: Locate and remove the old fuel filter and oil filter from the powerhead. Install the new fuel filter (observe flow direction arrows) and spin on the new oil filter hand-tight plus 3/4 turn.
  8. Thermostat Replacement: Remove the thermostat cover, extract the old thermostat and gasket, then install the new thermostat (ensure correct orientation) with the new gasket. Reinstall the cover and torque bolts evenly.
  9. Anode Installation: Remove the old sacrificial anode from the lower unit and clean the mounting surface. Install the new anode securely to prevent galvanic corrosion.
  10. Reinstall Lower Unit: Apply new drain gaskets to both the fill and drain screws. Carefully align the lower unit with the mid-section (ensure the water tube enters the grommet) and secure with bolts, torquing in a cross pattern.
  11. Refill Gear Oil: Using the included gear oil pump, fill the lower unit with the manufacturer-recommended gear oil until it overflows from the top vent hole. Install the top screw first, then the bottom drain screw with new gaskets.
  12. Final Check: Reconnect the fuel line, lower the engine, and run it in a test tank or on the water. Verify strong water stream from the tell-tale, check for leaks, and confirm smooth operation.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: How do I confirm this maintenance kit fits my engine?
A: Cross-reference your engine model and year with the compatibility table above (F20A/F25A 1998–2009, F25D/F25HP DEHTL/DETL/DMHL 2009–2017). You can also verify using the Yamaha serial number guide or consult your engine's parts diagram for OEM number 6G8-W006A-00.

Q: How often should I perform this maintenance service?
A: Yamaha recommends replacing the water pump impeller every 2–3 years or 200–300 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Filters, thermostats, and anodes should be inspected annually and replaced as needed based on condition.

Q: What are the signs that my water pump or filters need replacement?
A: Weak or absent water flow from the tell-tale, engine overheating, reduced performance, hard starting, or visible impeller damage are common indicators. If your engine is running hot or you notice performance issues, inspect and replace these components immediately.

Q: Can I install this kit myself or do I need a professional?
A: Installation requires moderate mechanical skill and familiarity with outboard lower unit service. If you are comfortable with basic tools and following a service manual, DIY installation is feasible. However, professional installation is recommended if you lack experience to ensure proper torque specs and alignment.

Q: Does this kit include everything needed for a complete service?
A: Yes, this kit includes the water pump rebuild components, fuel and oil filters, thermostat assembly, drain gaskets, anode, and a gear oil pump. You will need to supply the appropriate gear oil separately.

Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.

Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.

Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
