Its unique design enables the softening to be concentrated at a medium distance focal point, leaving the background unaffected.

Note: Soft Gold Enhancers are available in grades 1-3 with 3 having the greatest effect
- Soft gold enhancers use internal reflection to disperse light from the subject
- The use of specially developed gold platelets removes the harsh blue wavelengths from the image (yellow is the complimentary color to blue); They are suspended in a matrix which is tinted with a unique enhancer, adsorbing the harsh short wavelengths and transmitting the warmer, longer wavelengths; The light reflected from the platelets bounces back from the internal boundary layer and is refracted from its normal path
- The back reflection off the internal filter surface produces a diffused effect through refraction which softens the image at mid focal lengths
