This is the first painting I’ve created that was based on simply a feeling and memories of hunting with my father as a young boy in the Rocky Mountain west. My father would call a Mule Deer Buck a "Big Muley" if it was an antler size worth of pursuit, so I grew up with this rating system of a Mule Deer Buck or a “Big Muley" that was a 4 point or more buck with a decent spread. I just remember so fondly all those great times in the wilderness with my father and something that millions of people can remember hunting with their family. It’s such an important activity that fosters appreciation for nature and spending time with people that we love.
