Published by Rough Trade Books and curated by designer and author Craig Oldham, In Loving Memory of Work is a powerful exploration of the visual culture that emerged during and around the UK Miners’ Strike of 1984–85. Through photographs, banners, posters, badges, artwork and printed ephemera, the book documents a defining moment in British social and political history while highlighting the creativity, resilience and solidarity of the communities affected.

Blending archival material with contemporary commentary and personal recollections, the book examines how visual communication became an essential tool for protest, organisation and collective identity. In doing so, it offers not only a compelling record of the strike itself, but also a broader reflection on dissent, activism and the role design can play during periods of social change.

This revised and expanded edition includes a wealth of new material to mark the 40th anniversary of the dispute. Contributions from figures including Ken Loach, Alexei Sayle, Jeremy Deller, Jonathan Barnbrook, Ian Anderson and Rick Poynor sit alongside rare items from the archives of the Working Class Movement Library and the National Union of Mineworkers, as well as first-hand accounts from activists, artists and campaigners who lived through the events.

Richly illustrated and deeply researched, In Loving Memory of Work is both an important historical document and a moving tribute to the people, communities and creative voices that shaped one of the most significant industrial disputes in modern British history.

Excellent quality
Size: Large, Color: Purple
Perfect tuxedo to use for many functions. Got it about 2 years ago and have used it probably twice for galas as well as awards programs. Fits to size and didn’t break the bank. Texture is good and it is easy to pair with anything as well as is reusable.

The suit is amazing!! I just hate it arrived 3 days before prom after being delayed twice. It fit my son great, the blue was exactly as shown. It was not wrinkled or funny smelling at all. The material was very good and it will last a while. My son is 5’11, 150lbs, size medium
