    Ease of Installation

Internal contactors and controller, with no separate control box required, mean a more reliable, neater and lighter installation. Simplified electrical installation requires just the connection of positive and negative power cables to the motor terminals and the connection of the push button using the included output cable. Marine grade circuit breakers are also available for protection and isolation.

    Efficient, high quality motor

At the heart of the E1 winch is a high quality European engineered and manufactured series wound motor. Carefully matched with the optimal gearbox they deliver high speed at low load for fast sheeting in, and low speed at high load for safe, fine tuning when trimming. They are available in 12 Volt and 24 Volt models providing smooth and quiet operation across a wide working load range.

    Illuminated “intelligent” Push Button

E1 winches are supplied with push button with integrated LED which illuminates when power to the winch system is on. The push button incorporates a hinged safety cover to prevent inadvertent winch operation and is water resistant rated to IP67. The push button also acts with the controller to flash status codes that assist with trouble shooting in the event of overload or where other system protection intervention occurs. A cable for connection of the push button is included for convenient installation.

Unrivalled level of monitoring and protection

  • Integrated Overload Protection - The controller is pre-set to stop the winch if the Maximum Pull Load is exceeded. Operation can resume within a few seconds when the load returns below the limit

  • Thermal Overload Protection – The motor is fitted with a thermal cutout that disables the motor in case of overheating; it automatically resets after the temperature returns to normal.

  • Reverse Polarity Protection – An integrated 5 Amp fuse protects the motor against incorrect cable connection.

  • Accidental Start Protection – Winch operation is disabled if the push button is already inadvertently pressed when the power supply is turned on at the circuit breaker or battery.

  • Low Voltage Detection - Operation is disabled if the battery charge level is low, which prevents further drain on batteries and avoids triggering low-voltage reset of navigation instruments and other electronic devices.

  • Continuous Run Time Limit– Operation is disabled if continuous run time exceeds 10 minutes.

    Manual operation

2-speed manual operation is always available as a backup; to winch beyond the pre-set maximum pull load (but below the winch Max Working Load) or just for the experience.

    Good but index needs improvement
    Format: Paperback
This is a good, comprehensive guide to tracks and sign. However, there is no index of where to find each family, so in order to find a species you have to flip through the entire book looking for the right page. This makes it annoying to use if you are trying to look up information on a particular species or family.

This is a very useful field manual for those interested in detailed traking methodology.
    Format: Paperback
I spent many years as interpreter and ranger for the Colorado State Park System, now called CPW—Colorado Parks and Wildlife. We were annually tasked with surveying a given species' presence, density, and range in the park system and surrounding areas. Detailed field manuals were critical to the accuracy of our work, and HOW I WISH I HAD THIS BOOK DURING THAT PART OF MY CAREER. There are few other books I've come across providing detailed, yet very accessible information on how trail sign reflects animal behavior across different conditions, landscapes, and seasons (both weather seasons and mating seasons). One particular aspect of this book I found significantly intriguing was the section on predation—how does a mountain lion take down a mule deer vs. how wolves bring one down. The locations on a prey animal where a certain predator is most likely to attack, showing illustrations, is a remarkable piece of work, and there authors are clearly masters of interpreting tracks and sign! If you want learn about how mammals behave in their native environment, adding this book to your field manual packet will greatly expand your horizons! Busy it, read it, and get outside! Thank you Mr. Elbroch and Mr. McFarland for adding to the wildlife canon!

Great book and very useful tool to have
    Format: Paperback
I had the older edition and lived it, but someone at my last job *borrowed* it and I never saw it again. This edition sends even better than the last, and I have that one five stars. Great pictures and the number of species covered means it's good in at least all states I've worked in.

    Simply unputdownable
    Format: Kindle
B N William’s field guide is fascinating. The book uncovers the bizarre reality beneath the polished propaganda of the Second World War, exploring the wonderfully weird truths where the line between brilliant innovation and sheer insanity vanishes completely. Every unusual piece of information has been verified using official declassified archives. I loved the story of Wojtek, a Syrian brown bear, who became a beloved and legendary figure, known for his unique story as an enlisted soldier. Read many more such stories and episodes in this book. You will enjoy them thoroughly.
