AC Schnitzer aerodynamic components pick up the lines of the respective base vehicle, subtly reinforcing them and giving the body exciting new contours. At the same time, they also have a real impact: they increase downforce on the front and/or rear axle, thus providing additional roadholding. Only high-quality composites are used in the production of our AC Schnitzer aerodynamic components. Only these materials meet our high quality standards.

Material: Carbon - carbon fibre reinforced plastic
Carbon fibre reinforced plastic, or carbon for short, boasts a unique quality. Carbon is also ultralight yet extremely stiff. These properties explain why this material is indispensable in racing and aerospace technology. However, the production of this fibre is very laborious and complex. Fibers are spun into thick threads, called rovings. The threads are woven into textile-like fibre mats and, in a subsequent step, coated with various plastics. From this point on, the material is extremely fragile. Even slight stretching leads to irreparable distortions in the texture and renders the product unusable. Only with careful manual work can this highly delicate fabric be fitted into complex shapes. Such a process requires considerable practice and sensitivity. After the components have been cured in an autoclave, the surface is painted. This is an extremely demanding process for this fabric-like structure, with its numerous sink marks. The flawless surface ultimately reflects one thing above all: perfection down to the very last fibre.

Creative design
PUR or carbon: at AC Schnitzer, all designs come from a true Italian artist: Michele Viandante; he has been the Head Designer at AC Schnitzer for many years. Of course, his designs aren't just beautiful; they also have to stand the test of time: for example, many parts are tested for functionality in the wind tunnel.

Tests
If the calculations match the results, further tests are required. Crash tests with dummies verify, for example, whether pedestrian protection is met. Only once all tests are completed and the certificates have been issued do AC Schnitzer aerodynamic components go on sale worldwide.

Appraise
The parts certificate is an official document that permits the use of tuning parts on public roads under the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations) in Germany (and several other countries). After the part described in the certificate has been installed or modified, the vehicle must be presented to an official inspection centre. The inspector will verify the correct installation and authenticity of the part and then enter the modification in the vehicle documents. The vehicle's official operating license thus remains valid. The parts certificate is part of the delivery package.
