This beautiful waxy coloring both gives them their name and catches the eye of hobbyists and predators alike. Powder Blues may be the most active of any of the isopod Isopods or species. They also burrow less and like to stay on top of the substrate hiding under leaves and bark. Color: Normally a bluish orange color but turn a lustrous blue just prior to molting Size: 3-15 mm Locality: Found naturally in warm, moist, humid marshlands Difficulty: Beginner Light: Dark, dim lighting with dark places to hide (i.e. under wood, leaves & soil) Temperature: 72-86 degrees Fahrenheit - low to mid-80's is best for breeding Humidity: 80-90% Behavior: Extremely lively, hardy, crawling Culturing: Slower to culture than dwarf species but easy nonetheless. Keep rich organic substrate warm & moist.
