This is a fresh twist on an old idea: printing with neckties. While the concept of transferring silk tie patterns onto fabric isn’t new, I’ve refined my own methods — shaped by lots of trial, error, and discovery — to create pieces that are truly original.

Each scarf begins as plain white wool. I lay pieces of vintage silk neckties on top, then transfer the dye directly from the silk onto the wool — each pattern crisply imprinted onto the fabric. It’s magical!

Because there’s only so much fabric in a single tie, duplication just isn’t possible. Every scarf is a one-off. Even ties that look similar can yield wildly different results — especially the blues! The dye might come through as orange, brown, grey, purple... sometimes even blue. It keeps every batch unique, and it’s always fun to see what prints the ties reveal.

The wool gauze I use is fine, airy, and incredibly soft, with a beautiful drape. Light enough to wear as an accessory, but warm + functional too. Wool is amazing that way.

Care instructions:
Handwash in cool water with a gentle, no-rinse laundry soap. Spin out excess water in the washer, fluff in the dryer on air or ultra-low heat for 2 minutes, then lay flat or hang to dry.
