Cartier Tank Française PM Ref. 1820 – The Quintessential Parisian Elegance in Solid 18K Gold

An enduring symbol of French refinement, the Cartier Tank Française PM Ref. 1820 in 18K yellow gold distills more than a century of Cartier design mastery into a compact yet commanding form. Recently serviced by Cartier and presented as a full set with provenance and a two-year Cartier international warranty, this reference represents the maison’s genius for timeless, wearable luxury.

Refined Geometry & Integrated Design

Introduced in the 1990s as a modern evolution of the iconic Tank line, the Française stands apart for its integrated bracelet that flows seamlessly from the case—an unmistakably Cartier innovation that marries form with function.

This petite model features a 20 × 24mm case in solid 18K yellow gold, serial number CC555874, with harmonious proportions and elegant wrist presence. The bracelet, also in 18K yellow gold, is fully integrated and retains Cartier’s unmistakable balance of satin-brushed and polished finishes. With a maximum length of circa 16cm, it embraces the wrist like jewelry yet retains the authority of fine horology.

The crown is adorned with Cartier’s signature blue sapphire cabochon, framing a flawless cream-white dial punctuated by black lacquered Roman numerals and delicate blued steel hands—every detail instantly recognizable as Cartier.

Cartier Quartz Calibre – Serviced & Warrantied

Inside beats the reliable Cartier Calibre 018B Quartz movement, ensuring precise and effortless daily timekeeping. In late September 2025, the watch underwent a complete service by Cartier Brussels, including a professional polish, and is covered by a two-year international Cartier warranty—valid until late 2027. This recent intervention guarantees both beauty and performance.

Complete Provenance – A Collectible Full Set

Few watches arrive with such a meticulously preserved and documented history. This example is offered as a full set, including:

  • Large red Cartier presentation box

  • Original Cartier Certificat de Garantie International (purchased at Hotel Intercontinental Kinshasa, Congo)

  • Cartier service papers with provenance

  • Cartier service invoice and warranty (2025)

  • Original purchase invoice from the previous owner

  • Red Cartier service pouch

Such completeness adds immeasurably to its desirability, ensuring long-term collectibility and market confidence.

Why This Watch?

The Cartier Tank Française PM Ref. 1820 in 18K Yellow Gold is more than a watch—it is the embodiment of Cartier’s maison ethos: elegance, innovation, and heritage. Compact in scale yet rich in detail, it speaks to those who appreciate Parisian artistry and discretion.

Freshly serviced and warrantied by Cartier, offered as a pristine full set with provenance, and gleaming in solid 18K yellow gold, this timepiece is as much a jewel as it is a watch. A treasure for the discerning collector—or the ultimate expression of everyday luxury.

parodies of a classic
Format: Paperback
In Shamela, Fielding gives us the behind-the-scenes true Hollywood version of Pamela's story (and it's tabloid worthy). In Joseph Andrews, Fielding shares the tale of Pamela's brother caught in the same sort of madcap antics she endured.

An Excellent Film
The success of this film is derived from Paul Schrader’s concept for the film and his hiring of his production designer, Eiko Ishioka, a Japanese female artist. The four chapters are presented in a simple setting with ingenious design while telling Mishima’s personal history and development into a Nobel price winning author and martyr for his political beliefs. This blu ray is a new restored 4K digital transfer of the director’s cut. As usual Criterion Collection also included a wealth of commentaries, interviews, a 1985 documentary about Mishima and a booklet. A very best blu ray package if you are interested in the person and subject matters.

Astonishing Movie
This is exactly the kind of movie that would never receive funding today and get within hailing distance of production. This movie was my 'gateway drug' into the dark and fascinating world of Yukio Mishima which is one of those things where, as the saying goes, "If you know, you know." This film is basically a collection of several short films woven together. One is the story of Mishima himself, from childhood up to the morning of his last day. The other shorts are taken from four of his novels, including my personal favorite, 'Runaway Horses'. For the biographical portions of the film, which are mostly in black-and-white, Roy Scheider's narration is excellent as well. All in all, this movie is a beautiful introduction to Yukio Mishima as well as an artistic triumph for Paul Schrader.

Fantastic and Thought-Provoking
Mishima is a complicated figure in literary and Japanese history, but this film manages to capture the complexity of the man without seeming like it either loves or hates him. Great cinematography and the reenactments of Mishima's stories are wonderful. Music is fantastic as well.
