Soil Tillers and Ale TastersThis is the story of the male line of my Chilvers family right from the beginnings of Man Follow us out of Africa, into Europe, shelter with us in the caves of the Balkans to keep warm during the Ice Age, and then up through Europe to Denmark from whence we sailed across to East Anglia. Find our oldest known named male ancestor, see how the Black Death didnt work out too badly for us, as we gain land, get a new name and build up quite a thriving dairy

Follow us out of Africa, into Europe, shelter with
us in the caves of the Balkans to keep warm during
the Ice Age, and then up through Europe to Denmark
from whence we sailed across to East Anglia.

Find our oldest known named male ancestor,
see how the Black Death didnÕt work out too
badly for us, as we gain land, get a new name
and build up quite a thriving dairy farm.

But then our line branches away - poorer and poorer
including a spell in a DebtorsÕ Prison. Follow the
decision to move to the North West, perhaps seeking
riches in America but leading to some of the worst slums
in Britain. But we fought back against the odds to today.
