This 1966 Slingerland 4-piece shell pack is a beautiful example of mid-’60s American drum craftsmanship. Finished in natural maple, it has that warm, open vintage tone that players chase from this era—woody, round, and full of character. With classic sizes and the unmistakable feel of a well-built vintage kit, it’s the kind of set that looks right at home on a stage or in a studio tracking room.

Key Features

  • 1966 Slingerland build: Classic Chicago-era drums known for warm, musical tone.

  • Natural maple finish: Clean vintage look that highlights the wood grain.

  • Traditional 4-piece configuration: 12" rack tom, 13" rack tom, 16" floor tom, and 20" bass drum.

  • Vintage shell construction: Known for open resonance and that classic ‘60s drum voice.

Condition
This kit is vintage and shows honest wear consistent with its age. Expect scuffs, finish wear, and small marks from decades of use. Hardware and shells show age-appropriate patina, but the drums remain structurally solid and fully playable. It’s a real player’s vintage kit—not a museum piece—but exactly the kind of drums many players prefer for their sound and character.
Please note: ProCare is not available on vintage items or acoustic drum kits.

Because this is a large drum kit, web orders may experience a shipping delay while we source appropriately sized boxes and packing materials to ship it safely.

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
