Overview: The Sony A7R Mark IVa is a revised version of the acclaimed A7R IV full-frame mirrorless camera. It offers unparalleled resolution and image quality, thanks to its 61-megapixel full-frame sensor, making it ideal for professionals who require exceptional detail in their photography. The updated "a" version includes an improved LCD display with higher resolution, enhancing the viewing experience for critical image composition and playback. Designed for landscape, portrait, studio, and commercial photography, the A7R IVa provides excellent performance and versatility in both stills and video.

Key Features:

  • 61MP Full-Frame Exmor R CMOS Sensor: The A7R IVa features the same 61-megapixel full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor as its predecessor, offering unmatched detail and dynamic range. This sensor is particularly suited for capturing intricate details in landscape and studio photography while maintaining low noise performance.

  • BIONZ X Image Processor: Powered by the BIONZ X image processor, the camera delivers high-speed processing, enhancing autofocus performance, image clarity, and reducing noise in low-light conditions.

  • Enhanced LCD Display: One of the primary updates in the A7R IVa is the upgraded 2.36-million-dot LCD screen, which offers sharper and clearer image previews compared to the 1.44-million-dot screen on the original A7R IV. The tilting design allows for flexible shooting angles and better visibility in bright conditions.

  • 5.76 Million-Dot OLED EVF: The A7R IVa is equipped with a 5.76-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, providing a highly detailed and true-to-life view for framing your shots. This high-resolution EVF allows for more accurate image review and composition in all lighting conditions.

  • Up to 10fps Continuous Shooting: The camera can shoot at up to 10 frames per second with full AF/AE tracking, making it ideal for capturing fast-moving subjects, even with the high-resolution sensor. This performance allows for reliable tracking of action shots and wildlife photography.

  • 567-Point Phase Detection Autofocus: The A7R IVa uses an advanced 567-point phase-detection AF system, covering a wide area of the image frame for precise and fast focusing. The Real-Time Eye AF and Real-Time Tracking work seamlessly for both humans and animals, ensuring sharp focus even during dynamic scenes.

  • Pixel Shift Multi Shooting: For ultimate detail capture, the Pixel Shift Multi Shooting mode combines up to 16 images to create a super-resolution composite image, perfect for product photography or fine art where detail is critical.

  • 4K UHD Video Recording: The A7R IVa is capable of recording 4K video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, ensuring high-quality footage. It supports S-Log3 and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) for advanced color grading and dynamic range control, making it suitable for professional video work.

  • 5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilization: The camera’s in-body image stabilization compensates for up to 5.5 stops of camera shake, helping to produce sharper images when shooting handheld or in low-light situations.

  • Dual UHS-II SD Card Slots: The A7R IVa supports dual UHS-II SD card slots, allowing for flexible data management, backup, or overflow recording for uninterrupted shooting during extended sessions.

  • Weather-Sealed Body: The magnesium alloy body is both lightweight and highly durable, featuring comprehensive weather sealing to protect against dust, moisture, and tough shooting environments.

Good info that helps
Format: Paperback
This had info that helped our AD lockouts issues or at least ease the pain while our vendor figures it out. A powershell command that unlocks all AD users instead of having to unlock each one. In the troubleshooting section

More than just the most comprehensive book on AD
Format: Paperback
I have been working with Active Directory since it was released in 2000 and even before that if you count its predecessor Exchange's directory. I can confidently say that this is the most comprehensive book on Active Directory that I have ever read. Of course there are all of the basics like designing AD structures, migrations to AD 2022, management of objects and group policies but then all of the AD services are also covered in-depth like DNS, DS, LDS, FS, RMS and CS. Furthermore this book tackles trusts, database maintenance and backup and recovery. While not a book about Azure AD, there is a ton of information about Azure AD. The author takes the time and effort to compare AD with Azure AD and there are hundreds of references to Azure AD in terms of building out hybrid AD environments, federated identity and notes about how things are done in Azure AD versus AD. The chapter on PowerShell demonstrates scripts for both AD and Azure AD. Here is what I think makes this book special though, and it is how the entire context for the book is around security, identity and access management. Essentially this book can be viewed as a book on security, identity and access management that demonstrates how to practically implement those concepts in Active Directory and Azure AD. There is fantastic information that explains the concepts of identity and access management clearly and concisely and covers topics such as zero trust, privileged access management (PAM) and more. Then, these concepts are translated into how they are implemented in Active Directory. It's a great way to present the information as it provides real world context and clearly explains the purpose of Active Directory versus purely just describing technical features and functionality. This is the way all technical books should be written.

A great read for those who want in depth knowledge about MS Active Directory & related services
Format: Paperback
Reviewer: 20 yrs training and consulting experience with Windows Server, Exchange Server, Active Directory, all major hypervisors, and cloud services. Active Directory along with all the related services and features are complex and many faceted topics. Books showing step by step examples are easy to come by, although not very useful since there’s plenty of Microsoft online help with the same info. What’s more important is to understand the features and related services and how to use them properly and securely. This book covers in great detail Active Directory and the related services and features. There’s also plenty of information and expertise from a security perspective. With the move to cloud services and more employees are working from home there’s a whole new level of security issues to contend with. This book contains lots of in-depth explanations that allow you to understand why certain features and services exist and how to use them. This extra depth and the author’s experience is what makes this book special. I would recommend this book for IT Professionals that already have some AD knowledge and experience. My only qualification is that I occasionally found some of the explanations confusing even after reading them over a several times. I would highly recommend this book for those who wish to understand, configure and design an AD infrastructure along with associated services including OU design, group policy, object management delegation, ADFS, Certificate Services, etc. Although the book is not about Azure AD it does cover some aspects including integrating with on-prem AD.

Detailed coverage of Active Directory
Format: Kindle
I spent several years very close to active directory but haven’t followed developments in recent years. I was interested in this book as a refresher on what’s new in the last 8-10 years – and it did not disappoint. The chapter on Advanced AD Management with PowerShell does a great job providing some background, setting the stage for why we’d want to know this, and providing some brief descriptions of various cmdlets that might be needed. My last experience with PowerShell/Active Directory required the Quest module, so seeing these native cmdlets is a nice change. The chapter on AD FS is very detailed, providing a history of the functionality, deployment topologies and considerations, as well as details on configuring the required components. This is a topic I was not familiar with before seeing this book, and it did a good job bringing me up to speed on the feature. I have not made it all the way through this book, but the sections I have completed are very good. If you are looking for a thorough reference guide on the current state of Active Directory, you should check out this book.
