This good-looking Necklace features 3 strands of multi-hued Green Garnet Nuggets. The Garnet is graduated — ranging from 10mm to 20mm in dimension — and displays a range of colors from light green to dark olive green and some cognac brown. The variation in color, size and shape is attractive and enhances the visual appeal of the stones. They are polished to a glossy sheen. We've paired the Garnet with 2 styles of Czechoslovakian Glass, including 8mm cognac-colored Czech Luster Glass Faceted Rondelles and 8mm moss-green Czech Coin Beads. These beads are accompanied by 6mm light-tan Faceted Glass Rounds. All the glass beads are translucent or semi-translucent, shimmering in reflected light. The Garnet Nuggets are highlighted by six 9-by-10mm Sterling Silver Beads, which are square in shape and ornately fashioned with swirls and linear stamping. The shining Silver pairs nicely with the Garnets rich tones. At the top of the Necklace the 3 strands of Garnet Nuggets transition to 3 strands of silver-gray Fire Polished Glass, streamlining the silhouette for wearer comfort. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 260 grams and the 3 Necklace strands are each 23-1/2 inches long (when wearing, a vertical length of about 9 inches).

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
