Even to suggest that every believer should use the original and correct word instead of the erroneously translated version would create some turmoil since the average Christian would undoubtedly react emotionally. It is well known that the emotional response in many, if not most, people is the governing and dominant human response. For example, how many sincere believers have been brought to tears, or nearly so, as they sing: Òand I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain.Ó The very word ÒcrossÓ is fraught with thoughts and memories that tug at our hearts. I think it is perhaps mostly because of such that it is imperative that the truth about the use of the word cross must be declared.
