This Halloween, take charge of your fears with this Dr. Seuss classic that glows in the dark

I was deep within the woods
When, suddenly, I spied them.
I saw a pair of pale green pants
With nobody inside them

What's a pair of empty green trousers doing standing by itself in the woods? Or riding a bike in Grin-itch? Or fishing on Roover River? The narrator certainly doesn't want to find out but wherever he goes, he's haunted by the spooky empty pants.

First published as part of The Sneetches and Other Stories collection, the classic Dr. Seuss short story What Was I Scared Of? now includes glow-in-the-dark stickers and ink, making it the ideal fit for slumber parties and perusal by flashlight Perfect for Halloween, this splendidly silly story about a narrator terrorized by an empty pair of pants (which happens to be equally terrified of the narrator) works perfectly well the rest of the year, too, delivering a timeless message about fear and tolerance to boot. Scaredy-pants of all ages will quiver with delight

"Pretty much all the stuff you need to know is in Dr. Seuss." -President Barack Obama

....limited information about how the average person...
Format: Kindle
Coverage of the earliest period does (of necessity through lack of records?) encompass rather a lot of conjecture and assumptions. There's certainly a good coverage of the period - but it can become rather dry as it cycles through successive rulers. There's limited information about how the average person lived during the time covered. Tended to skim past extended descriptions of fairy tales of ancient beliefs and convictions. The book occasionally reverts to mentions of much later personalities (such as Freud) and comparing them to characters of ancient China!

Not worth the paper it’s printed on.
Format: Paperback
I can’t say that I was expecting such a slim volume on 10,000 years of Chinese culture to be a work of rigorous scholarship, but I also wasn’t expecting it to be quite *this* dreadful. It is badly written to the point of being unreadable, and it is clear that no one thought to edit the document before publication. I made it about twenty pages in before I had to put it down. The entire thing reads like an Anthropology 101 term paper written by a first semester college freshman who hasn’t quite figured out how to back up claims with evidence yet.
