Is a Dyneema Guard Rail strong enough?
The Dyneema Guard Rail from Premiumropes is made of Dyneema® SK78. This ensures a very high breaking strength and minimal stretch. The compact Dyneema® cover protects even more against chafing caused by the stanchions. We do recommend regularly checking the Dyneema Guard Rail for wear and tear. If necessary, use handy Rope Relief for extra protection.
How do you attach a Dyneema Guard Rail?
We recommend attaching the Dyneema Guard Rail to the pulpit using a rope fork terminal. On the other side, a Low Friction Ring can be spliced into the line. You can then fasten and tension the Guard Rail by means of a lashing with a thin Dyneema Rope such as our DX Core 78 in 3 or 4mm.
Is it possible to use a tensioner with a Dyneema Guard Rail?
This is possible, but keep in mind that a new Dyneema Guard Rail stretches a bit in the beginning when it’s new. We therefore recommend attaching the Guard Rail with a lashing.
Are there special terminals for a Dyneema Guard Rail?
We have a range of rope terminals for a Dyneema ropes. These are specially designed for ropes and can be used for Guard Rails. Low Friction Rings are also widely used.
