When Johnquell, an African American teen, suffers a serious accident in the home of his white neighbor, Mrs. Czernicki, his community must find ways to bridge divisions between black and white, gay and straight, old and young. Set in one of the nation's most highly segregated cities--Milwaukee, Wisconsin--Meet Me Halfway tells stories of connections in a community with a tumultuous and divided past. In nine stories told from diverse perspectives, Jennifer Morales captures a Rust Belt city's struggle to establish a common ground and a collective vision of the future.Morales gives life to multifaceted characters--white schoolteachers and senior citizens, Latino landlords, black and Puerto Rican teens, political activists, and Vietnam vets. As their lives unfold in these stories, we learn about Johnquell's family--his grandparents' involvement in the local Black Panther Party, his sister's on-again, off-again friendship with a white classmate, and his aunt's identity crisis as she finds herself falling in love with a woman. We also meet Johnquell's mother, Gloria, and his school friend Taquan, who is struggling to chart his own future.
As an activist mother in the thick of Milwaukee politics, Morales developed a keen ear and a tender heart for the kids who have inherited the city's troubled racial legacy. With a critical eye on promises unfulfilled, Meet Me Halfway raises questions about the notion of a "postracial" society and, with humor and compassion, lifts up the day-to-day work needed to get there. Terrible pillows
Size: Queen - Pack of 2, Style: Medium, Configuration: Pillow
These pillows might be fine if you need them for a decorative sham, but definitely NOT to sleep on. They are super lumpy and soft, days after taking them out of package. It seems like there are just bunches of cotton strips in a row that are hard to fluff. They are also dark in some areas, so it looks like the pillow is stained, when in fact it's whatever material the stuffing is. I can't return them because they won't fit back in the box. Super disappointing.

Comfortable from the first night
Size: Queen - Pack of 2, Style: Medium, Configuration: Pillow
I found them comfortable and with good support for the head and neck. They are wide in size and feel soft when lying down. After several days of use they continue to retain their shape without problem.

Not as Firm as I had hoped
Size: Queen - Pack of 2, Style: Medium, Configuration: Pillow
A good pillow.
However, there is quite a difference between the manufacturer's and my idea of "medium firmness". I found this pillow much softer than I had anticipated.
I'll have to go for firmer for my next purchase.

I admit when I was wrong.
Size: Queen - Pack of 2, Style: Medium, Configuration: Pillow
3/29/26 - I took the pillows and put them in my dryer on steam refresh for the default 10 minute cycle.
OMG - they fluffed up and evened out to be soft and comfortable, no lumps whatsoever. If you like a soft pillow with some support, but not firm support, THIS is what you want. I am truly amazed.

Previous review---They arrived in a vacuum seal bag. When you cut the bag and they inflate, they inflate lumpy like. Some areas are thick and some have to fill so, not very good. I am going to try washing them and drying them to see if they fluff up better.
Will post the results in a day or two.

Immediate neck and back pain
Size: Queen - Pack of 2, Style: Medium, Configuration: Pillow
Nice full pillows that holds its shape, BUT was NOT good head and neck support. I noticed an immediate difference. From non existent to growing neck pain in the first night’s use, through the week.
