Sized to fit a typical 16 in. x 8 in. concrete block opening, the vent fits an opening of minimum 14-1/2 in. x 7 in. The overall face plate size is 19-1/2 in. x 10 in. Stainless steel threaded rods are 9 in. long to fit most any foundation type. Faceplate is made of heavy duty, durable, gray color ABS plastic. No painting needed (but can be painted if desired). A removable panel can be installed during the heating season to seal the vent providing maximum insulation in cold months. This allows you to add some heat into your crawlspace foundation to keep your pipes and your floors from freezing. The vent has an 80% free area = 61 sq. in. free air opening per vent. Vent design increases crawl space foundation air flow by over 50% over typical steel vents which do not seal well or at all in winter. The vent is installed and serviced from the outside, so there is no need to enter the crawlspace foundation to install or service. Dual-mode flexibility provides maximum ventilation in warm months and maximum insulation in cold months.- Replacement for fixed vents that limit airflow in warmer weather and that do not seal well or at all in winter
