It's the glasses, which photographer Frohman asked Cobain to remove but he declined, which are perhaps at the core of the compelling photographs.
"The glasses to me have, over the years, become his eyes," Frohman says. "The glasses have turned him into a super-folk-hero, where he becomes sort of larger than life."
