Sennheiser HD 25 Cable Clamp / Strain Relief Set

The Sennheiser Cable Clamp Set (Official Article Number: 044433) is an essential, authentic mechanical replacement kit engineered specifically for the iconic Sennheiser HD 25 series monitoring headphones (including the HD 25, HD 25 Plus, HD 25-1 II, and older 70-Ohm variants).

Because the HD 25 is uniquely designed to run its primary connection cable externally down the right side of the split headband, this small clamp assembly serves as the foundational structural anchor. It locks the running cable flush against the headband frame, taking physical tension off the delicate steel pins plugged into the capsule drivers to prevent signal dropouts and cord tearing.

Key Structural and Mechanical Attributes

  • Targeted Cable Isolation: By pinning the cable directly to the outer lower section of the headband slider housing, it effectively absorbs the brunt of physical cord tugs, sudden drops, or booth snags.

  • Flawless Multi-Cable Tracking Compatibility: Accurately molded to standard Sennheiser specification profiles. The clamp track perfectly secures both standard 1.5-meter straight copper cables, steel-core lines, and the heavier coiled cables found on the HD 25 Plus edition.

  • Low-Profile Lightweight Composition: Weighing an imperceptible 4 grams, it integrates onto the side of the headset chassis without introducing bulk, imbalance, or altered headband sliding resistance.

  • Anti-Reflective Matte Textured Finish: Molded from premium high-impact composite matching the factory matte-black aesthetic of the original HD 25 ear cups and headband segments.

Step-by-Step Installation and Technical Repair Advice

Accessing the Mounting Slot: To attach or replace your clamp set, locate the small plastic slider cover block situated right above the headband guide on the right ear cup armature capsule slide rail. Carefully pop or slide this decorative slider cover off to reveal the pre-bored mounting screw holes embedded directly into the structural frame.

Proper Cable Dress and Pin Alignment: Before tightening the new clamp down, make sure your cable plugs are correctly inserted into the capsule (remember: the Red plug goes to the Right side, the black plug goes to the left, and the "L" and "R" stamps on the plug housings must always face outward). Create a gentle slack loop in the wire between the earcup plug and the clamp position. If you pull the wire completely taut before screwing down the clamp, tilting or sliding the ear capsule will strain the internal connection, causing the audio to cut out intermittently.

Torque Control Warning: The replacement screws use a fine thread matching the plastic headband socket. Use a dedicated Torx T6 screwdriver and turn the screws strictly hand-tight until snug. Never use powered tools or apply heavy muscle force; over-torqueing will instantly strip the internal plastic threads of the main headband frame, ruining the anchor point.

Worked for Volvo Penta SX Gimbal Bearing
Very heavy tool, I was surprised. Pulled my bearing like it was nothing. Putting the new bearing in was a little more difficult as you have to drill a hole in the engine alignment shaft where it will work for your particular outdrive. Not hard, but it does not come pre-drilled as the required depth for each particular gimbal bearing differs by manufacturer and model. Measure your bearing placement before removal and check that it was installed correctly in the first place. The bearing should line up with the grease fitting and the o-rings on the drive shaft should end up riding in the middle of the bearing. once you have your measurement drill the hole, I used a drill press. I suppose you could use it on multiple outdrive models as long as you can drill more holes.

Great value
This kit worked perfectly on my Alpha one mercury outdrive. I saw a lot of people mention that it was a hassle to drill the hole when you better have all this alignment stuff. I threw it in use my regular drill drill guide and then the second hole was lined up. Pulling Gimble be very easy. I did have to adjust it up at an angle because my bearing was sitting in their crooked and it came out the second time I made the adjustment to the angle. I would highly recommend this.

Unfinished product - doesn't work - waste of money
in order to use this as an installation tool the directions tell you to drill a hole through the 2 inch steel rod..... either this hole should already be drilled, or this should not be advertised as an installation tool..... it will not install any bearings without extensive modification and requires the use of a drill press or a lathe. very dissatisfied that I now have to buy ANOTHER tool just to finish this job because this one doesn't do what it's described to do.... piece of junk... typical amazon garbage.... this is why I haven't used amazon in over a year... they rip you off with garbage.... I should have known better .... don't buy this junk .... Now they say 20 -30 days to get my refund .... Don't waste your time

Good tool, but must be hand drilled to accept bearing installation cup
Good tool, but you have to drill a hole in the bearing installation rod to accept the cross bolt that locks the bearing installation cup onto the rod.
