What is Cortaflex®?
Cortaflex® supplements are distinct in the market and are often misunderstood when compared to other joint supplements! Cortaflex® provides the necessary components to assist the specialized cells in cartilage, known as chondrocytes, in preserving joint health.
What are the benefits of Cortaflex?
• Collagen – a crucial element required by chondrocytes to create the water-based matrix of cartilage. Collagen contributes to the strength of cartilage. (We source our marine-derived collagen sustainably and ethically.)
• Amino acids such as glutamic acid – converted in the horse’s body to produce glutamine, which pairs with glucose to create glucosamine – a compound that works with others to provide flexibility and shock-absorbing qualities to cartilage.
• Hyaluronic acid (HA) – a vital component of joint fluid, which nourishes the joint and serves as a lubricant and shock absorber.
• Copper, manganese and silicon – essential trace elements necessary for the horse to synthesize its own chondroitin, (another critical structural component of cartilage), collagen, and hyaluronic acid.
Recently, in addition to these essential building blocks, MSM has been included in the Cortaflex® supplements to provide a bio-available source of sulfur, which plays a vital role in repairing the sulfur-containing bonds within the cartilage matrix. MSM also promotes a normal inflammatory response.
