DOOM: The Board Game is strategy board game of tactical combat for two to five players, based on Bethesda and id Software’s video game of the same name. Featuring two distinct player roles, the game brings the epic battle between elite marines and Hell’s most threatening monsters to the tabletop.

DOOM immerses players in a fierce battle between legions of demons, controlled by one invader player, and a cooperative team of up to four marines. The game guides players through two cohesive operations, during which the marines strive to achieve objectives like restoring power to the Union Aerospace Corporation’s facilities or manning expeditions right down into the pits of Hell. Meanwhile, the invader commands their demons to slaughter the soldiers time and time again in an attempt to protect their fiery domain and destroy all of humanity.

Special Operations

Each of the operations is made up of six missions, spanning a variety of UAC stations and the scalding territories of Hell. Each mission takes place on a unique map and provides a set of special objectives for both the invader and marines. The designated objective card indicates a goal for the marines to accomplish, while also providing an exact number of times the demons must kill the marines in order for the invader to crush the operation. In addition to these objectives, the cards also include special rules pertaining to each specific mission, shaping strategy with unique abilities for both sides of the struggle.

Alongside the objective card, the setup of each mission is decided by a set of threat, invasion, and event cards. The threat cards describe three different ways in which the invader may summon their demons from the portals across the map: Assault, Horde, and Infestation. The threat card is visible to all players, however, the demons at the invader’s disposal remain concealed from the marines on the hidden invasion card. The invasion card lays out six invasion groups which the invader may summon when the portals are activated, increasing their threat level on the board. The final step in the invader’s setup of each mission is sorting out the event cards, which make up the invader’s deck of special abilities and defense. Each mission’s carefully selected combination of these three elements makes every play a seamless and unique game experience.

Fall In

After setup, the game proceeds in two alternating phases—status and activation. During the status phase, the invader prepares their newest demons, draws their hand of event cards, and gains Argent Power to spend on special abilities. The status phase also involves filling and shuffling the initiative deck, which has a card for each marine and as many invader initiative cards as the invader has demons. This designates the turn order of the activation phase, so each round is random. However there are some cards that allow the invader or a marine to modify the order of some initiative cards.

The activation phase begins with drawing the top card of the initiative deck. If a marine card is revealed, that marine proceeds with their action, carrying out one main action and then any number of bonus actions. At the end of marine activation, they draw cards from their action deck up to their hand size. If drawing from the initiative deck reveals an invader card, the invader may choose any demon type on the board to activate, gaining movement points equal to the demon’s speed and performing one attack. Play proceeds, alternating between drawing from the initiative deck and activating based on the card shown until the deck is empty, at which point the round begins again.

Locked and Loaded

The team of marines is made up of one to four units, each with their own individual class, loadout, and action deck. As a marine, you will choose your class card at the beginning of each mission and keep it throughout the game. The card will indicate what unique abilities your marine possesses, helping to shape your strategy and the dynamic of your team as a whole. Class abilities range from allowing you to reorder initiative before each activation phase begins to increasing the number of cards you can hold in your hand.

You will also begin the game with a standard issue loadout consisting of two weapons. The action cards for these weapons are combined with four core action cards to create a ten-card action deck. You will cycle through this deck as the game progresses, using it to fill your hand and defend against attacks. Each card has either a main action, bonus action, or reaction on it, which you can play out of your hand. In the upper right-hand corner, each card also indicates a level of defense, from no defense to dodging the attack entirely. Whenever your marine becomes the target of an attack, you will flip the top card of your action deck, gaining defense accordingly.

Your action deck is not limited to the ten cards you begin with. There are classes you can choose and pickups you can collect in order to expand your deck further. A variety of grenades and heavy weaponry will help you upgrade your deck, adding new attacks, abilities, and defense. Expanding your deck is a surefire way to make your marine a force to be reckoned with, whether they wield a tricky grenade or a savage chainsaw.

Vicious Assault

One player in your game of DOOM will take on the role of the invader, commanding legions of demons across valuable UAC facilities and Hell’s searing landscapes. As the invader, you must summon your host of demons across the mission map, complicating the marines’ objectives and repeatedly wiping them out. The threat and invasion cards given at the beginning of each mission will designate which demons you're able to summon, as well as when and where they can spawn. Your masses of monsters will without a doubt outnumber the marines you’re tasked with dispatching, but the marines can respawn following death, so you’ll want to consider your summoning strategy carefully.

The demons at your disposal are listed on your invasion card, each associated with a colored portal. While the blue portal summons less intimidating monsters, with lower health and less powerful attacks, the yellow and red portals will allow you to call upon increasingly more dangerous demons. The invasion card is hidden from the marines, allowing you, the invader, to throw surprise invasion groups their way, further disturbing their progress toward the given objective.

Each of the demons you summon will have specific abilities, speed, range, and health listed on their demon card. While many of these abilities can be used at any time, others will require Argent Power to trigger, which can be collected by discarding useful event cards or by summoning an invasion group which includes a certain amount of Argent Power tokens. These tokens are then discarded when used to activate a special ability. When spent at the perfect moment, these tokens can allot you exceptional feats, allowing you to influence the course of marine actions as well as your own.

The event cards are drawn during the status phase of the round, during which you may choose to discard up to three in order to gain Argent Power. However, these cards can be very valuable on their own. Not only do they serve as your demons’ own defense, much like the marines’ action deck, but they also have special effects, such as augmenting attacks, improving your defense, or gaining Argent Power tokens.

Rage and Revenge

The invader player has an immense amount of power, with massive hordes of demons at their disposal, but the marines still have a couple tricks up their sleeves. Because death is not feared, but embraced in the game, the marines are encouraged to run into each battle with reckless abandon. Death is inevitable, so as a marine, there’s only one thing to do—make sure you take someone down with you.

Glory Kills and Telefragging are exceptionally unique attacks that the marines have available, should their demonic enemies lose a significant amount of health or move to the wrong place at the wrong time. Glory Kills may be executed when a demon has been damaged to their stagger value, a number on their card located just below their health. To carry out the kill, a marine must charge into that demon’s space for two movement points, receiving in return two health points as well as a Glory Kill card, which provide still more special abilities. Telefragging, on the other hand, is an action which may be carried out at any time. As long as a demon is standing directly upon a teleporter, a marine may spawn there, whether by respawn or teleporting from another active teleporter, immediately fragging the demon and removing them from the map and the game.

Hell Has Broken Loose

Bring the thrilling experience of Bethesda and id Software’s first person shooter, DOOM, to the tabletop with DOOM: The Board Game. Gear up to take down the hordes of horrific demons as one of the UAC’s heavily-trained marines, or flood the claustrophobic corridors and desolate dunes with a mass of demons as the invader. Gather your friends for an exceptional marine-on-demon combat experience in DOOM: The Board Game.

Off-Campus Conclusion
Format: Kindle
This review is one of the hardest ones I've ever written. The Off-Campus series is without a doubt one of the best series I've ever read. I have loved these characters, their stories, and the growth we've seen along the way. I love the love they all share. A quick refresher of the 4 previous books and how I rated them: The Deal - Garrett and Hannah - 5/5 (10/5 if it were an option.) The Mistake - Logan and Grace - 5/5 The Score - Dean and Allie - 5/5 The Goal - Tucker and Sabrina - 4/5 I was so excited about this book! A glimpse into some of my favorite characters, and where are they now. But, as much as it breaks my heart to say it, this book fell flat. First, let's talk about the pros. 1. Throughout the first four books, one of my favorite parts was the bromance and friendships between Garrett, Logan, Dean, and Tucker. THIS BOOK DOES SUCH A GOOD JOB WITH THAT, AND OMG IT MAKES MY HEART HAPPY. Their friendship is front and center and I loved every part of it. 2. Logan and Grace's and Tucker and Sabrina's installments in this book are the best in my opinion. I do wish that the rest of the gang could have been there for Logan and Grace's wedding, but it was oddly fitting for them. 3. This book is laugh-out-loud funny. 4. I love, love, loved watching Sabrina fighting for her man when he got arrested. Like yes, queen! Now for the cons: 1. The biggest reason this book physically pained me is how Garrett and Hannah's part was written. It was so far out of character and literally broke my heart. Their story is the last one of this book. They're my favorite couple from the series, and the part of The Legacy I was looking forward to the most. And boy, it let me down and broke my heart. I actually went back and reread The Deal not long after finishing The Legacy because I was so confused by this part of the book. I had to go back and restore my love in Garrett and Hannah. In The Legacy, I feel Garrett does not have his life together, and he's mean, especially to Hannah. Like we get it, Phil Graham is the worst, but Garrett never used to take it out on Hannah or let it affect their relationship, but boy does it ever here. And Hannah hiding the fact she's pregnant from Garrett for so long?! What is up with that?? Ugh, it literally hurts to be writing this because I looked forward to this and wanted to love it so much but just didn't. 2. Allie could not have been more immature in their section. I get she was scared, but girlfriend, c'mon. When Dean Di Laurentis offers you a ring and his last name, you don't tell the man no. A rating of the different couples parts of this book: The Pact - Logan and Grace - 4/5 stars The Proposal - Dean and Allie - 3/5 stars The Honeymoon - Tucker and Sabrina - 4/5 The Legacy - Garrett and Hannah - 2/5 As grateful as I was to get to go back and hang out with the Off-Campus crew again, it just fell flat for me. I wish we could get a redo. See them all now. How's marriage going? How are the kids? How's work? Get to laugh it up with the gang again, and fall in love with the love they share all over, especially Hannah and Garrett. I feel this book lacked the finality and closure this beautiful series deserved. Truthfully, it would have been better off without this installment altogether (Which I literally HATE to say.)

LOVED THIS BOOK!!
Format: Kindle
*NO SPOILERS PART OF MY REVIEW* I was eagerly anticipating this book ever since I learned it was coming out! I watched so many TikToks about this series and it made me feel so validated in my obsession for the Off Campus series and the OC couples. Therefore, I could not wait to read The Legacy as soon as it came out. I refreshed my Kindle app and there it was! I read all night, and slept for maybe 1 hour but I finished the book within 12 hours of it being released. I was SO pleased. This book was fabulous. Though it is 4 novellas (one for each couple) Elle Kennedy did an amazing job of weaving the four stories together and making it seamless. I really appreciated the continuity throughout the whole book. Seeing the group's dynamic was a total highlight of this book. I absolutely loved that we got to see their messages in the group chat and see how their friendships have stood the test of time and distance after their college days are over. I LOVED seeing the mentions of other characters in the Briar U/ Off-Campus universe as well. It reminded me of why I love this series so much. One thing, not a real spoiler but the epilogue is only about one couple, not all 4 like I had hoped and expected. I really hope we see more from the Off-Campus/Briar U universe in the future. If you love this series, you will really enjoy this book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THE WHOLE SERIES. IN ORDER. INCLUDING THIS AMAZING BOOK. ****CAUTION SPOILERS AHEAD**** I appreciated that Elle Kennedy added more to Grace and Logan's story given that a version of it was already published 2 years ago (?). I really liked their story. At first I was a little annoyed that it ended on sort of a cliff hanger, but once I read the whole book, it made sense because other novellas in this book ended the same way. Allie and Dean are my favorite couple in the Off-Campus series, followed by Hannah and Garrett. Allie and Dean's story in this book was great. I really loved getting to see them together again. The main conflict/ problem in their story was surprising to me. Allie's hesitation about engagement, wedding, babies, seemed a little bit uncharacteristic of her. She is SUCH a hopeless romantic, that seeing her be apprehensive about all of those things was confusing for me as a reader and a fan. But overall, I really enjoyed seeing Dean and Allie again. I love Dean so much. He is such an innately good person and so is Allie. I'm sad that there was no "glimpse into the future" for A&D in the epilogue because I would have LOVED to see them start a little family and maybe name their son Beau since Beau Maxwell was such a big part of their story. Sabrina and Tucker's story was also great. I appreciated that the author gave them a conflict in this book that in my opinion was never really resolved/addressed in The Goal. Their communication skills as a couple was beyond bad and frustrating! Tucker's admission to Sabrina that he is unhappy in his job coming as a surprise to Sabrina was bizarre. I enjoyed seeing them as parents to a toddler, so cute! Finally, Hannah and Garrett. The original Off-Campus couple. The people that started it all. I appreciated the premise of their novella, but bringing Garrett's abusive father back into the storyline, but only in a novella was unfair. There is SO SO SO much to say and unpack with regards to that. Shoehorning it into a brief novella was frustrating as a reader because it felt like that needed to be a whole full-length book itself. And Hannah holding off on telling Garrett about the pregnancy was also strange and unlike them. Garrett switching his opinion so quickly about being a dad was way too rushed. I feel like they were a couple who was pretty good at communication so seeing how Hannah handled this situation in this book was surprising. I would have really loved to see Garrett acknowledging that he has a lot of childhood trauma to work through and process in therapy! That would have been some real character development for him. Also, the lack of a wedding for them was upsetting because I feel like they deserve that and as a reader, I would have loved to see thatI!! Lastly, The epilogue was also a bit of a let down as I expected it to be a flash forward for all 4 couples, but it was just for Hannah and Garrett and it wasn't really a flash forward at all. *END OF SPOILERS* READ THIS BOOK!!! THANK YOU ELLE KENNEDY!!!!

Epilogues that left me wanting more
Book Review *minor spoilers* 3.5 stars I absolutely ADORE the Off Campus series by Elle Kennedy. Every book was fun, spicy, and dealt with real world problems, but with happy ever afters of course! I was SO excited to read The Legacy. An extended epilogue book dedicated to these characters?? Yes, absolutely love that idea. While it was very fun catching up with our favorite couples and seeing where they're at 2 years after their stories ended in their prospective books, I felt a little let down by most of them. I think my favorite epilogue story of the 4 couples was Grace and Logan. They kicked off the book with a bang. There was humor, emotions, spice, more humor. Plus the elopement!! I only wish we could have seen that part actually play out instead of a cliffhanger and then hearing about it through other characters later on. Dean and Allie. Gosh I loved this couple so much; their book (The Score), was my favorite of the original books. But Allie's character frustrated me so much when she didn’t want to accept Dean's proposal! Come ON girl!! Sabrina and Tucker. Their book was my least favorite of the original books, largely due to the plot focused around her pregnancy. Pregnancy tropes are just not my jam. And again, least favorite epilogue couple. Tucker opening two successful bars in Boston within 2 years - wildly unrealistic. Sabrina graduating Harvard Law while pregnant and raising her daughter; somewhat more realistic. Their story in the epilogue was entertaining, but it just didn’t do it for me. And Garrett and Hannah. My OG favorite couple. I loved their epilogue. I did not love that Hannah was so afraid to tell Garrett about her surprise pregnancy. But her reasoning was *somewhat* understandable. I will read anything I can get my hands on about this couple. But I just wanted MORE. More with the storyline about Garrett going public about his father's abuse. More about Hannah's career. More about G and H being parents - tell me about their kids! At least what are their names! Overall it was a fun way to wrap up the series. While I felt left wanting more, it's safe to say I probably wouldn’t ever be fully satisfied. Can Elle Kennedy please just write endless books about this characters? K, thanks bye!

hot hockey players in love ♥️
Format: Kindle
I have enjoyed this series so much 🥰Seeing all my favorite hockey players and their ladies get their HEA in these 4 novellas just made my heart all gooey 😍. I have truly learned to love these characters and the bromance of the hockey players, as well as the sisterhood of the WAGS. I all so glad Elle Kennedy wrote a continuing series 😘. Although my preference is sweet and clean reads, these spicy romances have captured my heart with their plot development and authentic characters. That being said this book, like the others in the series, have strong language and sexually explicit material. For mature audiences only. If you are ok with that, I highly recommend this series 😉
