Ten Years on the Rock Pile: A Collection of Stories, Some Hilarious, Some Tragic, about Life at the Summit of Mount WashingtonMount Washington, located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is the highest peak in the northeastern United States. Mount Washington, located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is the highest peak in the northeastern United States. It is often cited--by its inhabitants, no less--as the home of the country's worst weather, a claim supported by the mountain's long-held record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth's surface (231 mph on April 12, 1934). As a transmitter supervisor for WMTW-TV, Lee Vincent traveled regularly to the summit of Mount Washington. Soon enough his reports from the peak began appearing in a column in a local paper--and just as quickly captivated readers near and far.
These columns--with their accounts of the everyday lives and unusual exploits of the individuals who chose, against all odds and most notions of common sense, to call Mount Washington home--are gathered in this book. As entertaining and engaging as they are informative, these reports from the summit form an invaluable record of life happily lived in extremity. Accompanied by remarkable photographs and candid snapshots, they also document the experience and insights--and after Vincent's diagnosis with a virulent form of cancer, the valiant last days--of someone who had seen the mountaintop and reported back for the edification and delight of those lucky enough to read his columns and books.

Not streaky!
Size: 26" and 17", Style: Latitude Repellency
These work really well! They are not streaky, which was the biggest thing I was hoping for! They also aren’t too noisy, thankfully! They were easy to install too! I have only used them for a couple of months and so far they have continued working well!

Good wipers
Size: 22", Style: Latitude Repellency
Bought these wiper blades because my wiper blades were old. The new blades lay down a good level of water repellent on the windshield. I actually drove home this morning in a rainstorm and purposely did not turn on my wipers once, and the windshield stayed nicely beaded and cleared, a month after I put the new wipers on my truck. I recently bought my s/o a set for her vehicle. They’re expensive, but seem to be worth it. Very quiet, no chattering, 30 seconds to install on my F150.

Perfect Fit & Easy Install — Replaced Faulty Blade from Another Set
Size: 17", Style: Latitude Repellency
This 17" Rain-X blade ended up replacing a faulty 17" blade from a 5 PLUS set (24"/17"/12") I originally installed. The 17" from that set had a defective internal adapter — it wouldn’t seat properly on the wiper arm & was extremely difficult to remove. Once I got it apart, the adapter looked warped or misformed. Rather than deal with a full return, I replaced just the 17" with this Rain-X blade. Installation on the Rain-X was quick & straightforward — it locked in properly with no issues. Performance so far is solid: Smooth wipe No streaking No excess sound Good contact across the windshield Now I’m effectively running a side-by-side comparison (Rain-X 17" vs 5 PLUS 24"/12"), & I’ll update later if anything changes over time. Overall, this blade did exactly what I needed — simple install & reliable performance.

Incredible visibility upgrade for my Corolla!
Size: 24", Style: Latitude Repellency
I swapped my old, streaky blades for these Rain-X Latitudes on my 2005 Corolla, and the difference is night and day. The "2-in-1" feature actually works; after a few minutes of use, the water just beads off the glass, even when the wipers aren't on full speed. They were very easy to install with the included adapters and they wipe completely silent without any chatter. If you're prepping for a long road trip or just want better visibility in the rain, these are worth every penny.
