About the artist:
Humberto da Silva Fernandes (1937-2005) was a Brazilian artist known for his maritime-themed paintings. He was born on March 20, 1937, in the city of Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Fernandes started his artistic career in the 1950s, working as a sign painter and creating murals for public buildings. In the 1960s, he began to focus on painting maritime scenes, particularly ships, and boats.

His work is characterized by a realistic style that captures the beauty and power of the sea, as well as the intricate details of ships and boats. Fernandes' paintings often depict historic vessels, such as clipper ships and galleons, as well as modern yachts and sailboats.

Fernandes gained international recognition for his work and exhibited his paintings in galleries and museums around the world, including in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

He passed away on November 18, 2005, in Rio de Janeiro, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful and timeless maritime paintings.
