Birds in Winter: Surviving the Most Challenging SeasonHow birds have evolved and adapted to survive winter Birds in Winter is the first book devoted to the ecology and behavior of birds during this most challenging season. Birds remaining in regions with cold weather must cope with much shorter days to find food and shelter even as they need to avoid predators and stay warm through the long nights, while migrants to the tropics must fit into very different ecosystems and communities of resident birds.

How birds have evolved and adapted to survive winter

Birds in Winter is the first book devoted to the ecology and behavior of birds during this most challenging season. Birds remaining in regions with cold weather must cope with much shorter days to find food and shelter even as they need to avoid predators and stay warm through the long nights, while migrants to the tropics must fit into very different ecosystems and communities of resident birds. Roger Pasquier explores how winter affects birds' lives all through the year, starting in late summer, when some begin caching food to retrieve months later and others form social groups lasting into the next spring. During winter some birds are already pairing up for the following breeding season, so health through the winter contributes to nesting success.

Today, rapidly advancing technologies are enabling scientists to track individual birds through their daily and annual movements at home and across oceans and hemispheres, revealing new and unexpected information about their lives and interactions. But, as Birds in Winter shows, much is visible to any interested observer. Pasquier describes the season's distinct conservation challenges for birds that winter where they have bred and for migrants to distant regions. Finally, global warming is altering the nature of winter itself. Whether birds that have evolved over millennia to survive this season can now adjust to a rapidly changing climate is a problem all people who enjoy watching them must consider.

Filled with elegant line drawings by artist and illustrator Margaret La Farge, Birds in Winter describes how winter influences the lives of birds from the poles to the equator.

Works with Mac!
Style: 34" WQHD Curved 100Hz USB-C Docking
This monitor is great. I was suprised on how light it was, as I have a large Asus monitor that is very heavy. I am very happy with quality and it works great with a Mac.

Just a great monitor
Style: 34" WQHD Curved 100Hz USB-C Docking
What a difference. I purchased this screen to replace an older screen. I knew I would see some differences as the screen was a larger size. What I did not expect was the picture quality. It is exceptional. The colors appear to be accurate. Based on the build quality I expect it to be very durable. It has been very capable of running my games. This has been a great purchase.

Didn’t power on, still waiting. . .
Style: 34" WQHD Curved 100Hz USB-C Docking
I received this brand new monitor. It would not power on Amazon did not have any more in stock so it was sent directly to the manufacturer for repair. They have had it for two weeks and are going to have it for another one to two weeks before shipping it back to me and hopefully I’ll actually get to try it out I really hope it’s worth it in the end! Seriously frustrating that a brand new monitor would not even turn on and it’s gonna be at least a month before I even get to try it.

Meh....
Style: 34" WQHD Curved 100Hz USB-C Docking
Milktoast stats--right down the [lower] middle of the line. 1ms reponse time, mediocre 100Hz max refresh, and NO FreeSync support. Hardly expensive, it still is quite a bit more than other monitors with MUCH better specs, but less brand name recognition. I think the only reason it is so expensive is the white treatment. The VESA mount in the back did not fit my VESA plate. One side of the plate sat up on a small ridge of plastic. Not a showstopper, but hardly ideal--or necessary. The bezel (or rather, the DEAD PANEL SPACE between the bezel and the displayable area of the panel) is HUGE. Like 1/4" on the sides, and 1/8" on the top/bottom. If you're going to make a thin bezel, then make an edge to edge display. Otherwise, just give me a frame so that my image displays edge to edge. To me, it looks like the old CRT monitors from the 90s... YECK!
