Burro’s Tail (or Donkey’s Tail) succulent are very effective and easy-care trailing plants.  Give them tons of light and keep them dry and they’ll thrive!  Keep them out of high-traffic areas if possible as they’re fragile and will break off easily. Thankfully, If you have a leaf or a section fall off, they’re really easy to propagate.  Just let the piece callous over for 2-3 days, put the calloused area in soil, and keep the soil moist for a few weeks to promote root growth.   They can flower pink/red flowers, though it’s not common indoors. 

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  Be sure to let soil dry out in between watering. Fertilize with a low dose fertilizer during growing season to promote faster growth and potential flowering. 

PLANT NERD TIPS:  Burro’s Tail (and most fleshy-leaf succulents) are easy to check whether they need water or not by just feeling the leaf.  

If the leaf is hardened, that means it’s good on water!  

If the leaf is shriveled and dry, it’s ready for some more water. 

 If the leaf is mushy, let the plant fully dry and cut back on watering.

With these and  most plants,  it’s better to underwater than it is to overwater.
